Great drive for older Macs
Pros: Reliable, great value, good fit for 6-8-year-old machines that lack large drive recognition.
Cons: None
Bought two drives from NewEgg, one was dead on arrival.
Pros: Gone thru a hundred of these Seagates over the years, only had a few with premature failures, would say Seagate drives are typically among the best.
Cons: Never had a new Seagate fail right out of the box - until now.
Overall Review: Shipping took awhile, but just about everything has been disrupted by recent events. Problem with online purchases - in a case of product failure - is shipping/return and warranty. If Seagate replaces new for new, I might get a working drive back in a couple weeks, but if replacement is "refurbished," I'm not interested.
Not suitable for laptop use?
Pros: SATA, low price
Cons: Only 80GB capacity
Overall Review: Label on this Seagate drive states "NOT SUITABLE FOR LAPTOP COMPUTER USE" followed by "...manufactured for OEM distribution." Strange thing to put on a laptop drive label, no? We'll see how it performs as a backup drive in a FireWire enclosure.
Nice for bench tests, too.
Pros: Classy enclosure, sturdy, perfect for travel, data copy and backup. Has a mesmerizing LED, too.
Cons: Not a one.
Slick!
Pros: _Very_ nice unit. Clean, clever, compact and icy-cool. Glad I bought two of 'em. Highly recommended!
Cons: None.
Overall Review: A fan might be nice for "troubled" drives, but not necessary. I'm probably using these enclosures in ways they were never intended to be used, but they function flawlessly all the same.
