Cool Smoker

Comments: I have been reading the Newegg reviews on this processor for weeks. When I decided to go to Win XP x64 I went with this processor. I have been running it non stop. I produce high resolution graphics for catalogues, flash movies, and interactive programming. While running Photoshop (6 graphics), Illustrator (22 page document), PageMaker, Dreamweaver, Flash, Word, and Outlook the best I could do with the temp was 35-37c. This was after more than 3 hours of production. IMPRESSIVE!! ! ! ! My old system 2.4c, 2 GB RAM, Rage 128MB video card, doing the same kind of work would reach temps greater than to 45c regularly. Due to some of the reviews I purchased a third party heat sink and fan just incase. The third party heat sink and fan is still in the unopened box. You may need to add an additional case fan to the front or back of the case to keep the air flowing, but the stock processor fan seems to be very adequate. Plus a case fan or two is less expensive. This processor is a great for graphic designing and Newegg is great for providing products and support that rate well above average. Good Job Newegg keep up the great job
Not the best Quality Control

Pros: Very quick install and hook up. MUST READ BELOW BEFORE BUYING !!!
Cons: I purchased 2 of these and installed the first one in a new system that I built. Thankfully my power supply has a ground fault curcuit. As soon as I applied power to the machine I heard a snap and then nothing. And this was with no drive in the bay yet. I disconnected the new bay and still nothing. Then I disconnected the power cord and waited about a minute. I reconnected the power and then the machine came backup. I tried to connect the unit again, and again without the hard drive in it and snap, the machine goes off. I removed the unit and placed the 2nd unit in the system and the machine came right up. I used a continuity tester and found that the +12v power was grounding out somewhere. Since I didn't want to spend the money to RMA the unit I disassembled it knowing that this would void the warranty and found that the positive wire on the fan in the back of the unit was pinched against the fan case and body of the unit shorting it out.
Overall Review: I spliced the wire and soldered it back and then reassembled the unit (very easily done). Reinstalled it into the new computer and it started up fine and has been work great since. It is obvious that the assemblers are not paying attention and the QC is not catching these VERY CRITICAL mistakes. If my PS did not have a ground fault curcuit I surely would have burned the new board, hard drive and/or processor. SamD should have gone a little further and removed the fan on the back of the unit and he may have found why the drives were burning up. Or, at least used a continuity tester to see if the positive and negative lines are shorted.
Stay away from this product

Pros: Price Low power consumption Low heat
Cons: Speed not as advertised 12/27 Purchased 01/02 Received 01/03 Installed 03/16 Died while laptop was idle
Overall Review: Installed on a Dell M6500 which has plenty of speed and power. the drive did not perform as specified by OCZ. It is much slower than the WD320 Black that was previously installed. I purchased this drive to help reduce the heat that was being generated by the 2 hard drives in my laptop. Although the heat issue was better and the battery life prolonged by a considerable amount that does no good if the drive can't last but a couple of months. I understand that this item is recertified, which means, "to guarantee; endorse reliably". I guess the reliability is out the window. Don't trouble yourself with this. if you look at past comments they mostly state the same. Will try to get resolution from OCZ. Will difinately report back the results. BTW... Newegg still gets 5 eggs and thumbs up for service.
The perfect solution for adding to your network

Pros: Easy set up Plug and play Very convenient when needed to add netowrk access points
Cons: loose access to plug, but they have new models that address that issue.
Overall Review: I have been using this model (1 and 4 port models) since they were released. These devices have come a long way sionce the 1MB poweline models. There are many factors that contribute to the speed variants that people have been talking about. wire connections to the sockets, UPS devices, surge protectors, arc faults and distance are major factors when setting these up. These have been designed to work on home power lines, but there are many factors that can slow you down. One you take these factors into account you may be able to increase yourthrough put. The devices and cables that connect the network, access point or router need to be of good quality. The connection to your power socket needs to be secure and you should have a good groud on the electrical system. Any radio interference (hum) from computers, microwaves or florenscent light will be refelced in the speed. If you are not getting the speed you think you should be getting you can test your lines for noise to see if this is the issue. I have set these devices up in 1, 2, and 3 story houses with little or no issue. Most of the issues are loose electrical connections at the socket (use due care if you do this yourself). Using a central location close to the power panel is the best place to connect the switch/router if possible. This product is the best all around answer to extend your network without having to run new network cables.
Not worth it

Pros: Purchased 5 of these when they were $69.99.
Cons: 3 were defective on original purchase. Does not perform well when using to transfer large files. Continuously falls off the computer and they have to be reseated. Transfer rates are very slow as complared to the black version. Even though the cache is 64MB, this does not help when transfering large files.
Overall Review: I use drives in my business for D2D backups using image based software. I usually use the black version or enterprise version drives in a removable drive bay and thought I would test these out for feasability of the process. Needless to say it was a great waste of money. Now that hard drive are 4 time more than they were 6 months ago this is definately not a drive you want to use for data storage. Save your money for either the black version or an enterprise version if you intend to use this for backing up or storing critical data.
Excellent Card

Pros: Easy install. fast interface. >85MB/s (>5GB/min) on long sustained transfers with no drop in speed (6GB SATA Enterprise drive). 5900 RPM SATA drives are just a bit slower (abt 70MB/s).
Cons: None so far, will update as needed.
Overall Review: Transfer rates are very dependent on the motherboard, processor, memory and drive speed. Using the card for DFS and removable drive media for daily backups. The card doesn't even try to balk when swapping out daily backup drives.

Notification and updates were prompt. Definitely will use again.

Slow boat from China is an understatement
Be prepared to wait over a month. 2017-01-13 - Made order 2017-02-10 - Order processed in China 2017-02-17 - Processed through New York 2017-02-22 - Delivered Located 2 other vendors, ordered and received the same product inside 7 days. The price is definitely not worth the time having to wait. Pay the extra couple of bucks and buy from a US vendor.
