G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Laptop Memory Model F4-2400C16D-32GRS
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Laptop Memory Model F4-2400C16D-32GRS

Pros: no fuss pop n' play RAM for my laptop. Maxed out the memory capacity. These DIMMs have been performing rock solid for the few months I've been using them

Cons: can't really think of any.

Overall Review: got them on what was formerly a deep discount ($200. just as RAM prices began to finally drop). Now this package is $160?! I should have waited

I know you read these, ASUS customer support! What happened to ASUSWRT?

ASUS RT-AX3000 Dual Band WiFi Router, WiFi 6, 802.11ax, Lifetime Internet Security, support AiMesh Whole-home WiFi, 4 x 1Gb LAN ports, USB 3.0, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, VPN
ASUS RT-AX3000 Dual Band WiFi Router, WiFi 6, 802.11ax, Lifetime Internet Security, support AiMesh Whole-home WiFi, 4 x 1Gb LAN ports, USB 3.0, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, VPN

Pros: Uses newest generation of wifi Haven't had any connection issues others have mentioned.... Yet. Upgraded from a RT-AC1900P, which has served me well for years. Compared, the RT-AX3000 has: - better signal strength overall - WAY better 5GHz strength (can get a strong, stable 5 GHz signal through 3 floors vs. a weak signal with the 1900P) - wireless seems a bit snappier. Likely due to the AX3000's better CPU and memory. - offers the ability to easily flash an alternative firmware on set-up.

Cons: cons that are no big deal: - no stand to set router upright. - included ethernet cable is cat5e - ASUS partnered with Trend Micro with these routers. There are some features you can not use without agreeing to share your information with Trend Micro. This appears questionable and intrusive sometimes not making much sense (you have to accept the agreement to use QoS for example). But I don't think this is a big deal based on what the data collection disclosure says and what I've read elsewhere. This does indeed seem to be for security reasons and not a Facebook like 'collect all the personal data they can to sell' agreement. potential con: - AC power plug. ASUS (like other wireless router manufacturers) has used plague capacitors in their power plugs in the past. FYI, if you have a router that works well and suddenly starts dropping connection, signal degradation, randomly resetting, or routinely malfunctions in general, there's a very high chance the power plug had a capacitor inside it go bad. Problem is I won't know if that's the case for 1-2 years. I've experienced this issue with an older ASUS router I used to use; replacing the AC plug fixed it. con that IS a big deal: - ASUSWRT-Merlin, the main reason I bought this thing

Overall Review: I bought this over the past summer since it kept going on sale. I've been using an RT-AC1900P for years. That wireless router worked very well for me. I only set up the AX3000 a few days ago and I wasn't expecting it to impress me, but it has. I would give the AX3000 5 eggs if it weren't for 1 thing: if you're the ASUS customer rep reading this review, this is what you need to know. For me, the main selling point for this product was the fact its set up to allow the owner to flash another firmware right out of the box. There's some weirdo out there who makes firmware specifically for ASUS wireless routers. Its called ASUSWRT-MERLIN. The last time this firmware was updated was back in August and the project has since been on hiatus. The only detail I know about it is ASUS suddenly stopped sharing source code the project needs to continue. I'm not sure if this is limited to ASUS or if its industry wide, but this is a shame since I like using ASUSWRT-MERLIN and, as I understand it, ASUSWRT-MERLIN provided features and bugfixes that ASUS used in their own official firmware updates. I will change this review (if I can) and bump it up to 5 eggs once the ASUSWRT-MERLIN project resumes. And, yes, this is a big deal to me when it comes to buying ASUS routers.

Inexcusably bad port

SHOCK TROOPERS 2nd Squad - PC [Steam Online Game Code]
SHOCK TROOPERS 2nd Squad - PC [Steam Online Game Code]

Pros: Was on sale for 5 quarters

Cons: Terrible port. Default resolution doesn't fit screen. Lots of really bad slowdown

Overall Review: Game is kinda fun. Not as good as Shock Troopers 1, but it has charm. This Steam port, like many other Steam NeoGeo ports, was handled by Dotemu. The $8 asking price for how poor this port is, is criminal. I've read reviews claiming the slowdown in this port is 'not bad' and 'just like the original'. Having played the original recently, I can say for sure the game does have slowdown on original hardware, but it is not anywhere near as bad as it is in this port. If you want this game on a budget without resorting to legally grey areas, I'd recommend steering clear of this port and getting the Hamster port of Shock Troopers 2 on any game console. Hamster legit tries to get their ports arcade perfect. Dotemu ports are straight trash.

Designed for PC. There's a reason this headset keeps going on sale.

Corsair VOID RGB Elite Wireless Gaming Headset, 7.1 Surround Sound, Low Latency 2.4GHz, Noise Cancelling Mic, PC/PS5
Corsair VOID RGB Elite Wireless Gaming Headset, 7.1 Surround Sound, Low Latency 2.4GHz, Noise Cancelling Mic, PC/PS5

Pros: Not bad headphones Comfortable Great sound

Cons: Only works with included wifi dongle, which is huge Not bluetooth USB is for charging only iCue required to use all features Void Elite was intended for PC use, PS5 functionality is basically a feature; the 7.1 surround is PC only and is a basic stereo headset for PS5.

Overall Review: Apologize if this isn't the best or most informative review for this as a headset. Bought this because it was on sale and based on the listed sound features. Main purpose for me is as headphones for my laptop and rarely as a gaming headset. As far as that goes, 5 eggs. Great sound capabilities. Main issue I have is I normally buy wired and reading 'usb adapter' in the description had me assume the adapter was a USB cord. No. Like most wireless headsets, the 'adapter' is a wireless usb dongle. Stupid me. Finding this out, I'm ok with it. But the size of the wireless dongle is huge. Like 2000's tech inch long big. Not a good idea to plug it into a laptop because it can easily catch on or hit something and break big. This along with no bluetooth and having to install iCue makes me want to give this headset 3 eggs, but the sound is impressive enough to push it back up to 4. update: Tested these on my ps5. The 7.1 surround is PC only, it doesn't work on PS5. Volume is sorta low on PS5 as well. Volume cranked all the way up is basically normal volume level. You can get a better headset for the PS5. For the cost of these things, would expect the 7.1 to be on all supported platforms which brings my rating back down to 3. Lastly, I haven't used these enough to comment on the battery life. But given the number of complaints on how the battery doesn't last as long as stated is 100% because the battery has gone stale from age. Nearly every product on newegg with a battery in it has the same complaints for this very reason. Most of this stuff has sat in a warehouse for a year or two.

fantastic thermal putty

UPSIREN UX PRO Ultra 16.8w/mk Thermal Putty For VGA GPU IC Processor Rapid Cooling Thermal Pad Replacement Heat Blocking Putty 50 g
UPSIREN UX PRO Ultra 16.8w/mk Thermal Putty For VGA GPU IC Processor Rapid Cooling Thermal Pad Replacement Heat Blocking Putty 50 g

Pros: Absolutely wonderful thermal material, amongst the best money can buy. Easy to work with. Transfers heat very well. Perfect for replacing thermal pads in video cards. Being a putty is another big advantage: no need to buy thermal pads with specific thicknesses and can deal with odd gaps that aren't in normal 0.5mm increments. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Cons: newegg reviews won't let me name the site, but this same exact product can be bought for much cheaper directly from China. The trade-off is it will take longer to ship and potentially get held up in customs for months. Putty is a little greasy/oily. Recommend using gloves when handling.

Overall Review: Learned about this stuff from the youtube channel Snark's Domain. According to his videos, the Upsiren UX Pro Ultra was the best putty he found. According to his test/charts, he's found putties that perform better since then but hasn't made videos showing it off. Despite that, you can't go wrong with this stuff, it's excellent. I've used this putty in a couple of devices and I can speak from personal experience, if you've got something struggling with heat issues, replacing the thermal pads and replacing it with this putty will fix it. My GPU no longer sounds like its trying to take off.

wonderful psu

Super Flower Leadex Titanium 1000W 80+ Titanium, 10 Years Warranty, ECO Fanless & Silent Mode, Full Modular Power Supply, Dual Ball Bearing Fan, SF-1000F14HT
Super Flower Leadex Titanium 1000W 80+ Titanium, 10 Years Warranty, ECO Fanless & Silent Mode, Full Modular Power Supply, Dual Ball Bearing Fan, SF-1000F14HT

Pros: Titanium rated fully modular nice looking sleeved cables price was too good to pass up

Cons: sleeved cables are stiff and hard to manage

Overall Review: worried about the no-name brand, but my fears were unfounded. super flower manufactured PSUs for other big name PC companies. wattage wound up being way more than I needed for my PC have an MSI mobo with 8 + 4 pin power connectors for the CPU. old psu had 1 8pin CPU molex. With this psu, I could plug something into that extra 4 pin slot! learned that extra slot involves overclocking the CPU haven't noticed psu fan noise complaints like others have stated to make sure your PSU doesn't blow up, plug it into a surge protector! if using a battery back up, make sure its one meant for PCs. you can fry your PSU if you use the wrong one!

Arrived alongside my newegg order

Ordered a piece of furniture. Only complaint is the box it came it was beaten up and most of the tape holding it together was ripped and torn. Otherwise, the product I ordered was undamaged and arrived alongside the order I placed with newegg.
