Excellent Display (with a little tweaking)
Pros: Beautiful vibrant colors and nice contrast ratio 2560x1440p @ 165hz is the perfect sweet spot for PC gaming (remember to use DisplayPort to get 165hz) Doesn't get too bright (250nits) which is great for dimly lit rooms Absolutely great price for all these features Very easy to navigate, one-button menu system
Cons: Bad VA black smearing out of the box Only HDR 400 Fingerprints and smudges can leave blotchy white patches on your display that's very noticeable when playing darker content. No, your screen is not malfunctioning you just need to wipe it off. It can take a little bit of time and effort to clean off smudges on this matte display though.
Overall Review: Absolutely love this panel! My laptop has an sRGB .icc profile applied to this display coupled with Windows HDR and colors really pop, but it's not too over-the-top at all. I found the black level smearing horrendous while gaming at first until a post on reddit suggested setting the gamma level to 4 and turn the display overdrive to balanced. Boy what a difference! Even with Freesync on the smearing was greatly reduced... the only time I really notice it is when scrolling through settings pages in Windows 10's dark mode. As for HDR it's decent. I can tell Windows has made some improvements in that regard. As far as the monitor, don't expect an HDR400 VA to compete with OLED or even IPS HDR1000. The display doesn't get nearly bright enough and there is no local dimming. My iPhone 11Pro does HDR way better, but it's not at all terrible on this monitor. Just thought I'd point it out and temper expectations. Overall great monitor from Gigabyte and I would definitely buy this product again especially for the price.
Decent B-Die RAM
Pros: B-die (easily tuned) and RGB
Cons: Was unable to run at either XMP profile. May just have been a limitation with my MoBo plus CPU OC
Overall Review: Some pretty decent B-die RAM. While I wasn’t able to run it at it’s rated XMP profile I was able to clock it at 3800mhz 15-15-15-34 @ 1.48v with a few sub timings adjusted as well. Haven’t had any issues to report yet. The RGB lightings does get plenty bright so if you’re using a case without a dark tempered glass side panel take notice, although you can lower their brightness either via Patriot’s software or your Motherboards firmware. Would definitely buy another kit, but I think I’m good with single rank for now.
FedEx sucks
