The absolute best

Logitech C910 USB 2.0 1080p HD Pro Webcam
Logitech C910 USB 2.0 1080p HD Pro Webcam

Pros: I've just published a book on how to buy, setup, and use webcams for job and TV news interviews. I chose this webcam for my personal use because of the sharpness of its lens, the 30 fps frame rate, great mike, and ultimate ability to adjust virtually every camera function, from focus to zoom and white balance. We had another five-year-old Logitech webcam before this one, and the technological improvement is breathless! Like the C910 so much I bought another for my wife.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I have no problems with the way the webcam mounts on top of my LCD monitor. Secure and easy to adjust. The blue indicator LEDs on each side of the lens that tell you it's turned on can create a blue cast to the picture and reflect in my glasses. But that was easily fixed with two small strips of electrician's tape.

Great Buy

Black+Black+Black Robotic Case Cover w/ Holster Kick Stand For iPhone 4S/ CDMA/ 4
Black+Black+Black Robotic Case Cover w/ Holster Kick Stand For iPhone 4S/ CDMA/ 4

Pros: Great case and holster for the price. Fits precisely, permits charging and use of headsets and camera without having to remove anything. Holster is tough. Rotating clip seems strong. On my previous holster, the rotating clip pulled out of the case when I sat down in my car, and could not be re-attached.

Cons: none so far

Truly Superb

Black Swivel Holster Stand Plastic Case Cover+2x Screen Pro compatible with iPhone® 4 4G 4S
Black Swivel Holster Stand Plastic Case Cover+2x Screen Pro compatible with iPhone® 4 4G 4S

Pros: This is a truly superb holster for my new iPhone 4S. The rim around the phone fits precisely and slides into the holster with a click. Easy to remove. The belt clip hangs tight, and the swivel detents strong enough to keep it at the angle you want. With the included screen protectors, it's almost free.

Astounding speed

Mushkin Enhanced Ventura Pro 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive MKNUFDVP32GB
Mushkin Enhanced Ventura Pro 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive MKNUFDVP32GB

Pros: I ran a complete backup on a new Mushkin 32GB USB3 flash drive 5/16/13, formatted for NTFS. I bought the drive to replace another brand that has been backing up at a max 22-23 MB/s rate. This was only slightly faster than a USB2 drive, which copied files at a max 17-18 MB/s rate. The new Mushkin did the job at an amazing rate that at times spiked as high as 90 MB/s. The entire backup took 9 mins and 19 seconds (559 seconds). The total amount copied was 9.09 GB. So the copy time was 559 seconds for 9.09 GB. This is an average 16.65 MB/s. I then reformatted the old flash drive I had been using to NTFS and copied my entire My Documents folder. This took 16 minutes and 45 seconds (1,005 seconds) for 11.3 GB. This is an average of 11.5 MB/s. This was a larger amount of data because some files in that folder have been deselected and are not included in my regular backup program. Both runs were made in the same USB3 port. I found that with both flash drives, some types of file formats copy faster than others. I don't know why. The older flash drive never showed a copy rate higher than 23 MB/s. The Mushkin flash drive would spike as high as 90 MB/s.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: Windows 8 Explorer will show you MB/s speed as you are copying files. But this new drive was copying files so fast, it could not give me that speed unless the file was fairly large, giving it time to do the calculation.

Superb Wireless

Shure PG14/PG185 Wireless Lavalier System, K7
Shure PG14/PG185 Wireless Lavalier System, K7

Pros: I bought the earlier version of this wireless system for professional use in conducting seminars about 20 years ago. The old model is still going strong. Now my wife needs one in her business, so I didn't even shop around. I just bought the same brand/similar model. The new receiver is smaller and has an internal antenna, which is great.

Cons: none

Small and fast

Team F108 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Golden) TG016GF108N3
Team F108 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Golden) TG016GF108N3

Pros: This drive is smaller than most, so it squeezes into tight slots between other plugs. I tested it in my new computer that has USB 3.0 and it copied the test folder more than twice as fast as an 8GB Kingston USB 2.0 flash drive. I copied the same 957 MB (total) folder with subfolders from a hard drive onto both the Team and Kingston flash drives. Windows 7 Explorer showed the Kingston USB 2.0 drive writing at 11 MB/S and the Team USB 3.0 drive writing at 24 MB/S. the Kingston took 1 minute, 38 seconds to copy the data and the Team took 40 seconds. The difference in total time and speed per second apparently came from the Kingston process pausing slightly from time to time.

Cons: none yet

Overall Review: I've been using Synchback, a great shareware program, to backup my data to a flash drive. The new USB 3.0 capability will cut the backup time by more than half. Great improvement.
