Clean, crisp sound...excellent!

Energy Take 5 Pack 5 CH Home Theater Speaker System
Energy Take 5 Pack 5 CH Home Theater Speaker System

Pros: Sound Quality Construction Size Value Versatility

Cons: Recommended 50 hour break in period - I get it, but I want to crank these things!

Overall Review: These speakers are made with precision and care. For the size of the speaker, they have some good weight to them which to me, indicates a higher quality of components inside. From the get go, the sound quality is fantastic...the lows are clear and highs are even moreso. It sounds so clean similar to reference speakers...which these are not obviously. My old speakers that came with my receiver had the dynamic range of a ham sandwich...the same source opened up a world of other frequencies. Even my wife noticed the difference. Energy/Klipsch warns of pushing them too hard, too fast. They encourage you to break it in for about 50 hours or so. As much as I wanted to crank these to see what they could do, I was happy to have the warning from the vendor.

No Peripheral Backplane?

Motherboards - AMD
Motherboards - AMD

Comments: There is nothing against Newegg in this review...as usual Newegg is the best. But Epox is another story...I'm sure the board works fine, but they should pay attention to details. Not everyone uses a brand new case that has the exact same backplane design that this motherboard comes with. You figure Epox would have included the metal backplane piece (for where you plug in your mice, USB, LPT, etc) in the retail package, like Asus is kind enough to do. They didn't and older cases have to go without it. Epox doesn't even offer it for purchase on their webpage...That at least tells me that they're not paying attention to details...Epox has been really solid for Athlon platforms over the past year and I'm sure this board will work great. The three stars is only for that discrepancy from the RETAIL package.

Works great in Macbook Pro

G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-16GBSQ
G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-16GBSQ

Pros: It works

Cons: It went on sale after black friday...darn it.

Overall Review: I was happy to find that this memory worked great in my wife's Macbook Pro (late 2011). That should give her enough memory headroom to throw Parallels on there so she can actually do work. ;)

Great PS, works well

Diablotek PHD Series PHD380M 380 W Micro ATX Power Supply
Diablotek PHD Series PHD380M 380 W Micro ATX Power Supply

Pros: Lots of power connector options, solid power output, performs as it should. Silent fan in back. Decent weight to the supply components.

Cons: Wire to main motherboard power connector was somewhat short. The mainboard I used with it (Asus M4A785-M) had its power receptacle near the bottom half of the motherboard. I could have used more slack in the wire. It had to be pulled as tight as possible and I wasn't able to follow the cable path for optimum airflow, etc. If I bought another type of mobo from a different mfg, it likely wouldn't be an issue.

Overall Review: Great little PS that fits in smaller mATX cases. My case is an older enlight mATX that has a cutout for a standard size ATX PS. I use a little bracket adapter and attached it to this PS. Works fantastic...fits like a charm.

Great Remote w/ Great Support

Logitech Harmony 880 Universal Infrared Advanced Remote Control
Logitech Harmony 880 Universal Infrared Advanced Remote Control

Pros: - All in One...no really, it IS a true universal remote! - Fantastic support for every configuration. Their support helped me add my generic chinese, no-name, 3x1 HDMI switch. The support engineers are easy to understand from North America - either Canada or the States. They're able to diagnose any issue you're having and really customize YOUR setup from their location. You get 60 days free support and customization assistance after registering your remote. - Easy and simplified layout for just about any device you may be controlling - Larger buttons than on the 550 which I have for my upstairs living room. The buttons on the 880 are big enough where you really don't have to really hunt and peck for the right keys.

Cons: Every now and again, some devices don't respond to the macros that are running to first turn things on, then adjust inputs. Input selection is the only problem I've seen from time to time, but the remote's onboard support wizard is great to get it going in a couple of clicks.

Overall Review: Logitech's Harmony support is a pleasure to deal with and what really makes this remote stand out. They can help with any customization and really get it tuned to work for you the way you want! I'd highly recommend this one!

Pretty Decent Wireless

MSI MP54G4 Wireless-G Notebook Adapter IEEE 802.11; IEEE 802.11b; IEEE 802.11g Mini PCI Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates
MSI MP54G4 Wireless-G Notebook Adapter IEEE 802.11; IEEE 802.11b; IEEE 802.11g Mini PCI Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Retail Packing good, well constructed - just like more expensive intel wireless cards, Good driver support at http://www.ralink.com.tw/supp-1.htm. Compatible with VIA notebook chipsets...Intels lock up the system with the driver installed.

Cons: Little bit clunky drivers, but are continually updated by RALink to offer better performance and features. Better documentation could be useful. I wasn't 100% sure that black is Aux, and White is Main.

Overall Review: Works well throughout the house...my router is in the basement, and I get solid reception all the way up two stories on the opposite end of the house (a cape). Installer from RALink works great and get's things up and running quickly. Battery usage is relatively low compared to Intel wireless cards. According to RALink the RT2500 uses the least amount of power. Driver has options for most performance or most reception.
