High quality but noisy

StarTech.com Black Aluminum 5.25in SATA Hard Drive Mobile Rack Drawer

Comments: Beautiful high quality design with solid metal is quite heavy. It works as advertised with my 300GB Maxtor SATA drive. The drive slides out inside its own case and is protected by a suspended tray and rubber grommets. The handle to pull it out and hold it is practical. You need to use a key everytime when you insert it to lock it into place and activate the power to the unit. That can be hassle for some. I use this to backup important files and not as a daily drive. It allows me to take all the important documents with me to store in a safe place. However it is not possible to go to another PC and just hook it up as is in the case with USB drives. The software that comes with the unit is designed for hot swapping. It seems like it is designed for people using Windows 98 or NT. So I don't recommend installing it with XP since XP allows hot swapping SATA peripherals (and I have successfully done that with this unit). Just make sure to disable write caching for this drive in the device manager. My main complaint is the loud fan on the front of the unit. Therefore I only keep it turned on when I'm actually using it.

Most Critical Review

No Vista Drivers yet from AMD-ATI

MSI Radeon HD 4350 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card R4350-D256H
MSI Radeon HD 4350 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card R4350-D256H

Pros: Lots of features for the price. Best graphics card on the market for the price for home theater PC (HTPC) since it's quiet and has the most advanced HTPC functionality. Completely silent since it has no fan. Nice and small.

Cons: Even though it says Certified for Windows VISTA on the box, ATI does not offer an official VISTA driver! There is a Catalyst 8.10 "Hotfix" driver that states that is not supported by ATI. It installed fine, but when I hooked up my second 52" Samsung HDTV to it, it crashes. So haven't been able to get this to work yet. It works fine for single monitor, but not dual monitor.

Overall Review: This is what ATI states on the driver download page for ATI HD 4350, 4650, and 4550 cards: "This driver is provided as is and is not supported by AMD. It has not completed full AMD testing, and is only recommended for users experiencing the particular issue described above." Ridiculous for AMD not to offer a decent driver for this. How can you bring a product to market without a Vista driver these days?

Performed as Promised

G.Skill 32GB microSDHC UHS-I/U1 Class 10 Memory Card with Adapter (FF-TSDG32GA-C10)
G.Skill 32GB microSDHC UHS-I/U1 Class 10 Memory Card with Adapter (FF-TSDG32GA-C10)

Pros: I use it in a 808-16 Key Cam (spy cam) and it works fine. Speed using h2testw is 10.5 MB/s write and 17.5 MB/s read which means it is Class 10.

Cons: I can't say much about reliability. Will report back in a year.

Nice if you have realistic expectations

AIPTEK PocketCinema T25 (PJT41X ) 800 x 600 USB Power: Up to 18 Lumens AC Power: Up to 25 Lumens LCoS Pico Projector 400:1
AIPTEK PocketCinema T25 (PJT41X ) 800 x 600 USB Power: Up to 18 Lumens AC Power: Up to 25 Lumens LCoS Pico Projector 400:1

Pros: Compact size easily fits in laptop bag Can be powered by USB AC adapter included Higher resolution than other Pico projectors Very sharp image with good color Integrated stand

Cons: Needs a Windows laptop PC to operate - will not work from another source or from a memory card Needs to be used in a dark room Too dim for business use (Powerpoints), unless you want your audience in complete darkness Needs software installed on a PC, so if your PC is locked down, you won't be able to use it. Doesn't accept connections from a PC's VGA port (it only has a mini USB input)

Overall Review: Even though this is the brightest small Pico projector for $200 with the highest resolution, I can only recommend it for home use with a netbook PC. Since it doesn't read movies, pictures and presentations from a memory card you need a laptop with it. So if you want a usable image that is bigger than a 15" laptop screen, you will need a completely dark room. Otherwise might as well use the laptop's screen. My plan was to use it during sales calls with customers for a quick presentation in a dimmed conference room or office, but it is not strong enough to overcome residual lighting from a nearby window. Therefore I would recommend waiting until other affordable SVGA pico projectors come on the market with a bit more brightness and a memory card reader with battery.

Works like a Champ!

OCZ Agility 3 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) AGT3-25SAT3-120G

Pros: Has been reliable during the past month. Once you get used to the speed of a SSD you can't imagine how you've lived without it...

Cons: No brackets for desktop PC mounting included (I knew that)

Overall Review: I have had this baby for 3 weeks now and it has been great. Moving from my HDD w/ Win7 x64 Pro to this SSD wasn't the easiest but that's not the drive's fault. Make sure you have your Windows 7 product ID when you reinstall!

Poor Documentation

ASRock 890GX Extreme3 AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Good value for the features. Easy BIOS updates.

Cons: Poor documentation

Overall Review: This is a good featured mobo for the money, but the BIOS setup is complicated because nothing is explained there nor in the manual. So a lot of trial and error getting Windows 7 to work with a lot of BSOD and non boots. So many options require lots of digging in forums to know what's the best setup. Most of the overclocking presets cause my PC to stall. Core Unlock on my Phenom II X2 555 did not work well. Windows 7 boots, but games (BF BC2) crash on startup when in X4 mode.
