Pros: Packaged well for safe shipping.
Comes with everything it says it does.
Cons: Motherboard is a currently unsupported model from gigabyte. B460M DS3H AC is a model that exists B460M DS3H AC-Y1 is a model that does not exist. You can't update the bios with the -Y1 version that this computer ships with.
The fans are not completely hooked up to the motherboard. You can't control the RGB with any RGB software the way that this computer is sent to you, and the CPU cooling fan just does not stop rainbow wheels. See below for details on how to fix this.
Overall Review: How to control the RGB of the case fans (3 in front, 1 in back):
The LED switch on the top of the computer (If you can find it) switches through a few modes, none are static, which is frustrating. Take off the back side panel (opposite the glass) and find your way to a little PCB board that lives under the LED switch. There are 3 connections on this board, trace the larger connection down to a connector and unplug it, you can leave the cable that is now dangling from the PCB board, its not important. The side that was plugged into it is the important one to keep tabs on.
There should be an adapter cable which came with the computer that can plug into the cable that was feeding the dangle-cable. It has two heads opposite of the side you just connected, the head you want has 3 male prongs spread out over the space of 4 like this | o x o o | - Feed it down to the bottom side of the motherboard near the power supply, and find a connection that says D LED 1 - it will match the layout of the plug-head I described. Plug it in. Success! (Manual, Page 4)
How to control the RGB of the CPU fan:
There should be two red wires tucked behind the CPU fan, they each terminate to a single pin connection. There's no nice way to route these cables, but you can tuck the excess behind the cable management plate. There's a D LED 2 connection at the top right of the motherboard, next to the memory. D goes to D, and the funny shaped icon cable goes to G. (data, and ground) (manual, page 14)
How to control the RGB of the graphics card:
Look up Adam Honse / OpenRGB for this. It's easier than it looks to install. You need to install Microsoft Visual 2019 C++ runtime, then download OpenRGB_0.5_64_88464d1.7z for windows 64bit. You can extrapolate from this if you're reading this in the future or with a different OS.
How to boot up your computer with the same lighting scheme:
OpenRGB is great, but I haven't figured out how to get the computer to boot up into the lighting scene I want. so RGBfusion does the trick here, just without support for the graphics card which seems to hold its last value with OpenRGB.
Downloading any of the B460M DS3H AC bios updates will not work if you have the B460M DS3H AC-Y1 version of this motherboard. Even if you change file names and fix the problems that seem to be in the NSH file, it's just not going to happen for you.
Has it been worth it so far to figure all of this out? Not if there's no fix for the bios issue.
Did I lose a whole day of work figuring this out? Yes, I did.
Pros: Awesome deal, super great, works like a charm!
Overall Review: actual HD size (using windows 7 if that matters) is 457 GB
Pros: Easy install (duh), tray opens super quick, super cheap price, works exactly as described. A++
