OCZ OCZTFRZTC Freeze Extreme Thermal Conductivity Compound
OCZ OCZTFRZTC Freeze Extreme Thermal Conductivity Compound

Pros: less expensive than A$5 at the time of purchase. no "break-in" period.

Cons: the syringe was not very fluid when pushing the plunger, i almost dumped half of the product onto the Heatsink

Overall Review: helping my q9550 @ 3.6ghz keep cool at 30C in idle and 55 fully stressed.

Avoid if you have lots of data

SYBA SY-PCI40010 PCI SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) RAID Controller Card
SYBA SY-PCI40010 PCI SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) RAID Controller Card

Pros: easy to install easy to setup raid arrays works in winxp

Cons: Win7 32bit hates this raid card with data on HDDs I've been trying for months to get this to work properly and I've finally given up. there is a bug with either the chipset or the drivers on this and there has not been any updates for it in months. You setup the arrays (doesn't matter what kind) and then add your data to it, anything over 4 GB worth. There will be a time when you will have a power failure or need to reboot for an update to system files and that's when you will be in trouble. When the system reboots, right before you are able to log in, the windows loading screen will freeze and our array will start chunking. How long this will last depends on how much info you have on the array needless to say the more you have the longer it will take, i'm talking days.

Overall Review: I would avoid all raid cards that have this chipset on it, Silicon Image SIL3124.

Very nice but Major Flaws

SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR4UTBPN 4-Bay 3.5" SATA to USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID-5 Storage Tower
SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR4UTBPN 4-Bay 3.5" SATA to USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID-5 Storage Tower

Pros: Small Footprint USB 3.0 and Esata No Power Brick Easy Setup

Cons: Heat!!! (See other Thoughts) The metal covering is a pain in the you know what to put back on. You must use the software to setup the Raid. Seizure inducing blinking lights. (not kidding at all)

Overall Review: Heat!!! The cooling solution on this device is VERY minimal. There is only one fan as an outtake in the rear of the device. After testing this device, I noticed that the room was noticeably hotter than it normally is at this time of year (winter in the midwest). I opened the front door of the device and carefully touched the front of the hard drives. The hard drives were too hot to touch for more than a second. I have since taken off the front door and zip-tied a spare case fan to the front of it as an intake fan in order to prevent my hard drives from overheating. Seizure Inducing Blinking Lights My lovely wife, who is prone to photo-sensitive seizures, accidentally looked at the device and instantly got a migraine from looking at it. Now if she wasn't on her medication, she would have more than likely had a seizure trigger from staring at this device. The activity lights on this device are very bright and flash as fast as a strobe light on max setting. I have since disabled the lights by unplugging the internal cord that connects the main board to the front panel to ensure it never happens again. And the cover.... well that's the least of my troubles considering the above 2 items. Since I've done my modifications to this device, it now runs cool and quiet, and my wife can look at the device whenever she wants to.

My fault

XIGMATEK ACK-I5363 Intel Core i7/Core i5 1155 compatible Bracket Set
XIGMATEK ACK-I5363 Intel Core i7/Core i5 1155 compatible Bracket Set

Pros: Should work with all the heatsinks listed as compatible

Cons: Does not work with the old Xigmatek S1283.

Overall Review: I pulled a bonehead move and google searched for the deactivated page for the Xigmatek 1283 and under the "shopper's insight" which is subtitled as "See what other informed Newegg customers purchased after viewing this product". So i blindly added it to my cart and went on purchasing my new computer. I rated this a 5 egg for Xigmatek, but I would rate Newegg's deceptive "shopper's insight" 0 out of 5 eggs

G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B
G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B

Pros: Low cost, high performance, requires low voltage compared to other brands that demand >2.0V just for their "stock settings"

Cons: the timings listed on the spec are the EPP timings the actual timings for standard are 5-5-5-15 1.8v

Overall Review: since the voltage is low compared to other brands there is plenty of headroom for people that want to OC

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - Core 2 Quad Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83 GHz LGA 775 95W Desktop Processor - BX80569Q9550
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - Core 2 Quad Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83 GHz LGA 775 95W Desktop Processor - BX80569Q9550

Pros: Low power, high performance. very efficient. Plenty of headroom for you OC fans.

Cons: Stock Heatsink. Use an aftermarket one.

Overall Review: Honestly Intel why do they keep skimping on the heatsinks? The contact point of their stock heatsink reminds me of the diameter of a penny, possibly smaller which means the corners are baking because there isn't any contact with the heatsink.
