Solid board, overclock may disappoint

ASRock 4Core1600Twins-P35 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock 4Core1600Twins-P35 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Everything works, stable, has PS/2, parallel and serial ports if needed, lots of room to upgrade CPU and RAM (45nm CPUs, DDR2 and DDR3 slots).

Cons: Looks like an overclocker, but not much overhead here at least for my E2140 CPU.

Overall Review: I decided to be an early upgrader from ASRock 775Dual-VSTA to this board. My new E2140 CPU overclocked 50% on the 775Dual-VSTA which has no CPU voltage adjustment. Same CPU gets about 25% on the new board, regardless voltage increase: fails to post or blue-screens above that. I asked ASRock tech support why. They said, "Unfortunately the ASRock mainboard can not be overclock to the expected FSB you mention, since this ASRock motherboard comes with Bott Guard, which protect your system when it detect to high the Over clock" Sigh, guess I'll wait a year or so to get my boost from a Wolfdale CPU when prices ease.

Works as expected

LCD Digital Food Service Thermometer with -4 to 158 (F) TAYLOR 144810

Pros: Shows temp, doesn't suddenly drop when the refrigerator door opens.

Cons: Suction cup attachment was an initial problem: seems OK in the refrigerator now.

Works fine

Pros: Worked without a hitch

Cons: None noted

Overall Review: Bought a new mobo after a PS fried the predecessor. After the new build was complete, I discovered the new mobo had one bad RAM slot and I could only use one of my 2GB sticks. Needed more than 2GB RAM for my apps to run smoothly. Had previous satisfaction with Adata RAM and picked up this single stick to solve my insufficient RAM problem (the idea of pulling everything off the new mobo to RMA it was abhorrent to me since it worked fine except for the bad RAM slot: I'll sell the leftover 2x2GB RAM on an auction site).

Works well for my application

Overall Review: I have an ASUS transformer. I wanted to use my wireless mouse with the tablet without the keyboard attached. This adapter works as desired for this application.

Overall Review: After first trying to work a Win 8.1 convertible tablet with my fingers on a 10.1" screen, a stylus was an obvious need, and this one seems to work fine.

Awesome

Pros: Really fast. No problems with install or use.

Cons: None noted.

Overall Review: I usually build my personal PCs about a year or so behind the latest mid-range tech. With SSDs at $1 per GB and dropping, it seemed a great time to do a build nearer the bleeding edge for a change, and time to build my first Raid 0. These had really good test results and were rated very well, so I got two, installed with a new Z77 motherboard. I loaded Win 7 Pro and got WEI 7.9. Expected that. Loaded Win 8 and got WEI 8.3 out of 9.9: say what? Loaded HD Tune and got average read speeds of 1000+MB/s. 2012 SiSoftware Sandra Lite reported 999+MB/s. Sandra's File System Benchmark at 734.584 MB/s yielded a rank of #212. Enough of benchmarks: time to set up the computer for everyday use. Looking forward to seeing how well the complete system handles video rendering and such. And, no, these will not be my storage drives: I have a couple large (how did they get so slow?) 7200 rpm hard drives for that duty.
