Great drive, fast, reliable

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This is my 3rd 750GB SE16 drive by WD. I've always bought WD and NEVER had a drive failure (over 10 years). This one is actually very fast and has never had a problem. All 3 are performing flawlessly, and it's hard to beat the price right now.

Cons: None so far. It's not a 10k drive.

Overall Review: Price is great, great drive. Thanks always to Newegg.

does not work

SYBA PCI 32-bit Firewire 1394b Controller Card Model SD-FWB-32B
SYBA PCI 32-bit Firewire 1394b Controller Card Model SD-FWB-32B

Pros: Card arrived from Newegg quick!

Cons: The drivers on the CD are all over the place! Others said "plug and play" worked just fine, nope. Running XP. I tried downloading the info from their website (which takes some time figuring out where things might be) and still no luck. Wish it would work :(

Overall Review: Forgot to return it to newegg within the return period. Now it's just sitting here.

Great cage, eSATA card not Mac friendly

Pros: Lots of storage space. Best hot-swap trays I've ever used, very easy. Locking mechanism is a little funny, but it works and does it well. Stays cool to what I can tell. Quiet. Pretty fast too.

Cons: eSATA card supplied with the rig is not compatible with OSX <10.5.1. So, if you have anything newer than 10.5.1, it will not work. But, like another reviewer stated, a $50 card from MacGurus will make a good replacement. Card that came with the rig would give kernel panics all day long, new one works liek a charm.

Overall Review: Hot-swap works like a charm. Quick to start up and initialize the drives. I'd give it a 4.5 because the eSATA card has out-dated drivers and couldn't support my system. Otherwise this is a great product. I've tried iStarUSA SATA cages and like this better.

Works so far . . . cable was bad

BYTECC BT-406 4_Ports Mini USB 2.0 Slim HUB
BYTECC BT-406 4_Ports Mini USB 2.0 Slim HUB

Pros: Plug and play on my mac. The cable it came with did not work on either Mac/Windows. Thought the unit was DOA, but once I tried another cable it worked as advertised. Going to give it a run through, but glad it wasn't a bum unit

Cons: Cable does not work. If the entire unit was bad, its too cheap to bother with an RMA, but that could be a good thing.

Overall Review: Bus powered and self powered is the reason I got it. My jump drives work as bus-powered, no need to use the power supply. Small and fits in a pocket if needed. Wish it had more ports :)

Great, works!

BYTECC PCIe USB 2.0 4+1 PORTS Card Model BT- PEU2410
BYTECC PCIe USB 2.0 4+1 PORTS Card Model BT- PEU2410

Pros: Just bought a new Mac Pro, needed more than the 3 USB ports in the back. Took the recommendation from another reviewer for this product that this product worked great with the new Mac Pro. Plugged it in, powered up, no hitches, works great. Highly recommended, especially the price!

Cons: It doesn't have 5 ports? It wasn't cheaper?

Overall Review: Great product, no hassles and works.

Best CPU I've had

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Core 2 Quad Kentsfield Quad-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 775 105W None Integrated Graphics Processor - BX80562Q6600

Pros: Fast. Fast. Easily overclocked to 3.0 (x333). Finally leaving AMD 6400 3.2Ghz, I was worried this wouldn't be as fast. This thing is WAY faster in all respects.

Cons: Intel CPU mount is ridiculously stupid compared to AMDs motherboard mount. Took maybe 25 mins to get this thing on, and had to remove the board to check to see if all the pins had locked in. AMDs takes maybe 10 sec?

Overall Review: Don't know if the stock cooler is good, I purchased a CoolerMaster, great cooler. Q6600 - Gigabyte EP35c-DS3r - 8800GT EVGA - 4GB GSKILL PC1000 - WD 6400AAKS 640GB - Antec 900 This thing flies at 3.0ghz. OSX86 installed like a breeze on this with iAtkos. Prefer windows on this machine though.
