Beautiful laptop design and exceptional screen! Waiting on replacement though...
Pros: 1) Beautifully built machine 2) 300Hz screen is amazing 3) The keys feels great but... (see cons) 4) Full speed fans are quieter than my Alienware M15R2 5) Easy one handed opening 6) Very thin and light for a gaming laptop. Mind you, I have experience with gaming laptop screen sizes ranging from 11-18". So this is thin/light to me. 7) Ryzen CPU will work wonders for multimedia work. Check out YouTube videos and you will see.
Cons: 1) No MUX switch. You cannot disable nVidia Optimus. You will get a slight drop in FPS, but it can be bypassed by hooking up to an external monitor via USB-C. I currently use a ROG XG16 because I am usually on the go. 2) The keys feel great but they will be noisy. Not really suitable for libraries or the like. 3) Fingerprint magnet 4) Other 3080 laptops are better performing such as the Legion 7 or Alienware m15 with a higher watt GPU/PSU, but this also helps with thermal/performance. 5) Unable to tweak many options in the BIOS.
Overall Review: If you are in the market for a solid performing laptop with a Ryzen processor, this is for you. For multimedia work on the go, you cannot go wrong. If you are an FPS junkie, I would highly recommend going with the 2022 version. The new ones come with a MUX switch and Intel graphics which tend to be better suited for gaming. 3080 Ti anyone? The price to performance cannot be beaten for what you get. Only the Lenovo Legion 7 can come close to this, but you will drop to a 3070. After about a week of receiving this laptop, I started to get white lines/artifacting across my display. I thought maybe the new RAM I installed may have caused an issue, but after a few troubleshooting fixes did not work, I had to send it back in for a replacement. Steps taken - Removed newly installed RAM, reseated, and restarted. Nope - Re-installed original RAM. Nope - Fresh install of Windows. Nope.
Super light portable monitor
Pros: - Very lightweight - Included Stand - Very nice carry case - The design - Built in kickstand - G-Sync - Fast charging
Cons: - The stand is a little heavy - Controls can be a little wonky - Expensive
Overall Review: I travel a lot and am normally without my main rig for months at a time. I like to have a second screen so I can multitask. I use a ROG Strix Scar 15. It does not have a built in MUX switch. This monitor fixes that by bypassing nvidia optimus through USB-C connection. The controls can be a little finicky. When it is on the stand, it can be a little difficult to keep it in place while trying to make screen adjustments or even just powering it on. Hooking up a PS5, XBSX, Switch, and phone is amazing! Although the monitor is expensive, you do get what you pay for. You can easily get a beautiful monitor that never leaves home at this price. Portability is a priority. I wish the black monitor came with the stand. Beautiful colors and the amazing refresh rate!
Very good Quality SSD
Pros: - Very Fast
Cons: - Expensive
Overall Review: If you are in the market for an SSD, you can't go wrong with this Samsung. If you do not want to pay the premium price for the Pro model, be sure to take a look at the 850 EVO. Very similar performance at a cheaper price. If you can go up in price a little and happen to have a mobo that supports M.2 NVME, I would highly recommend you go with the 960 PRO or EVO. It has much faster read/write speeds. I am currently using the 960 Pro as my boot/main program drive and the 850 Pro for games/programs I do not use often.
The RGB is Gorgeous!
Pros: - Super Fast - Beautiful RGB effects
Cons: - Price
Overall Review: These have to be the most gorgeous RGB RAM sticks I have ever seen. They are a little on the expensive side, but if you are going for that RGB look, these are what you should get. I currently use these on a Formula IX mobo and it syncs with Asus Aura. If you are going to order these, be sure to go into your BIOS and change the DRAM frequency and timings.
Great item for Amazing Cable Management looks!
Pros: - very minimalistic - looks great paired with CableMod Cables
Cons: - Expensive for a few pieces of plastic
Overall Review: I ordered a couple sets not realizing that the CableMod cables already come with one set. Unless you have an insane amount of cables running through your rig, I highly recommend only buying one set. It was nice to have the extra pieces for cable management for the other side of my case.
