Enermax Aeolus Notebook Cooling Pad CP001-S
Enermax Aeolus Notebook Cooling Pad CP001-S

Pros: The absolute perfect size and color for a 15" Macbook Pro. It truly looks like it was built to spec for this laptop. With this computer, it's actually *not* unattractive to have a cooler on the desk. Dead silent. Blue lights are nice for hot summer nights when I don't want to leave 60 or 100 watt bulbs on. The wrist guard seems well oriented, although I use a wireless keyboard when at home.

Cons: Similar cooling capability to my Vantec LapCool2. I expected a much better for the price and design. It might run 2-5 degress F cooler, but that's it. You might need rubber feet, but since the 15" Macbook Pro Fits so well, the regular feet on the computer give it a little bit of space. I assume it's possible that the manufacturer might expect some or near contact with the aluminum for a heatsink effect. The wrist guard forces you to lift up your computer to unlatch.

Overall Review: Even though it is a large fan, I would like to see higher RPMs. Also, how about the option of AC or laptop power?

Useless

ASUS WL-500W IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft Multi-Functional Wireless Router with x2 USB Plug-N-Share hard drive function and Print Server Function
ASUS WL-500W IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft Multi-Functional Wireless Router with x2 USB Plug-N-Share hard drive function and Print Server Function

Pros: Nice features... *on paper*.

Cons: Clearly not designed with mac in mind. After 5 minutes of internet use, completely locks down my macbook pro (causing some error to the airport). USB ports won't connect to ANY device. Encryption is faulted (not even getting into that). Flimsy plastic device.

Overall Review: Asus tech support is something to be laughed at. I knew more about their product than they did. I purchased the router because I have trusted their motherboards for six years. Now I'll never buy an Asus product again.

SAMSUNG 22" a-si TFT/TN WSXGA+ LCD Monitor w/ Digital TV Tuner 5 ms D-Sub, DVI-D, CVBS 2280HD
SAMSUNG 22" a-si TFT/TN WSXGA+ LCD Monitor w/ Digital TV Tuner 5 ms D-Sub, DVI-D, CVBS 2280HD

Pros: Picture quality and color rendition are superb. The brightness is pretty amazing - I am using a dual monitor setup with a Macbook Pro and the Samsung blows away the Macbook Pro's LCD by far when in Entertainment mode. In Text/Internet mode, it is about the same, but using the monitor in Entertainment mode for reading text is too bright for the eyes to give you an idea (brilliant for media though). The PIP modes are very useful - you can overlay any input source in any of the four corners, do split screen, etc. Best yet, you can set the PIP to be translucent so you can still see whatever you want behind it. It's nice to work and be able to watch a movie at the same time. The bezel and stand, despite the photos here, are a beautiful glossy black.

Cons: Quite a delay after hitting a channel until it actually changes. The touch buttons on the monitor are almost too sensitive - there's no way to clean it without unplugging it or else you will be toggling the buttons with the SLIGHTEST touch. Regular cable looks truly disgusting. I hardly watch TV, so I haven't upgraded to digital cable yet, so I can't say if that would look better or not. But what I do know is that cable looks better on my six-year-old tube.

Overall Review: I don't think the volume is as much of a problem as other people are saying. If you are using a 22" monitor for movies or TV in anything bigger than a bedroom or office, what's wrong with you? Besides, it has optical out - use your home theater, it's 2008, you know you have one.
