Why buy quad?
Pros: I bought 4 sets of this memory (32gb) for $271 + I received (4) G.Skill 4gb MicroSD cards. What a deal!!! I think quad sets are marketing hype. If anything ever happens to say, 1 DIMM, you have to send in all four. These run flawlessly at rated speeds and timings. Tops the charts in AIDA64 & Sandra benchmarks. With a massive jump in capacity (8gb to 32gb), Vantage jumps about 1500 P-Score and 3DMark11 about 500 P-Score. Not to mention turning off page file isn't a worry at all and I can run a very large RAM Disk for music and video editing.
Cons: None. This is the best memory you can buy for the price. Looks pretty cool too!! Matches my P9x79 Pro nicely!!!
Overall Review: Asus P9x79 Pro Intel 3930K + EK Supreme HF G.Skill 32gb 2133Mhz xFx HD6990 + EK FC-6990 Silverstone Zeus 1200W 95A Single Rail (Switch off) Corsair 800D 1 SSD, 4 HDD, 2 MCP655, Feser Rads, EK Reservoirs, etc. Above shows an expensive, addictive hobby that keeps me sane. No different than collecting antiques, building cars, buying clothes, going out to eat, drinking $5 coffee everyday. Whatever makes you happy, RIGHT?
Memory speed not as advertised
Pros: Stays cool, nice blue color, 3-year warranty, Awesome texture memory, comes with CODWAW.
Cons: I never got around to checking the memory speed on this card, until too late. Past the month refund, which is bull. Purchased to SLI with an EVGA 2gb card. The memory speed is advertised as 2484MHz, but is only at 2322MHz. I guess that's fast enough, but now I'll have to underclock the EVGA card since I never OC video. Doesn't come with an HDMI audio cable or DVI-HDMI adaptor.
Overall Review: Check all speeds, memory size, and specs upon receiving anything electronic. Only use these cards with 64-bit operating systems unless you feel like losing your system memory to video. ie. 4gb max total in 32-bit.
Best monitor ever minus the light bleed
Pros: Just got it today. The UPS guy was carrying it by the handle on the box so it is probably less likely to be "dropped" onto the porch! Excellent packaging! Super easy installation of stand and every cable you could possibly need is included. Super bright out of the box. Still need to mess with all of the settings. Not a single dead or stuck pixel!!! 2560x1080 seems to run as fast and cool as 1920x1080 with my WCed 6990. 1fps slower and 1C hotter in FurMark 1.9. No page tearing, lag, or color problems. Out of 5 games I tried so far, only 1 needed a .cfg mod for 2560. DDO works as planned (Windowed and Wiki on the same monitor). Photo editing is awesome. I love it except for the Con below
Cons: Light bleed is heavy duty in the lower left hand corner on the particular monitor I received. I'd say about an 8"Hx5"W patch unless I am looking at it from desk level with the monitor tilted up. This really bothers me because most of the software I use and the photo editing I do is with dark backgrounds or scenes + I always game with the lights off.
Overall Review: I might send this one back, I might not. The $559.00 doesn't bother me, light bleed does. Other than that, this is the most beautiful screen I've ever laid my eyes on or used. I might update later. Until then.....
Unless your waiting for the 8 cores to come out....
Pros: Massive overclocking headroom (CPU, memory, video)!! Matched with the Asus P9x79, you won't need a new CPU for years. Runs super cool on water. The highest temp I've seen at 4.0GHz is 39C on all cores after a day of benchmarking. P39900 Vantage [email protected], HD6990@Stock, OCZ Reapers@2133MHz. Why pay for the Rampage IV unless your running LN2? This thing seriously has it all anyway!
Cons: Red debug LEDs. Doesn't go with the all blue/black theme of the motherboard.
Great board: didn't work with my shiza!
Pros: I've been a computer dork for about - i386 years (figure that one out) - 8086. When actullay working with my 6990 this board rocks the benchies. P39864 @ 4.2GHz. No vid OC!! Must be nVidia oriented?!?!
Cons: I did RMA it because of compatibilititties issues. All of the great coitus went down hill on this one. Killed my power supply, very possibly killed my video card, don't care about anything else! TV party tonight!!
Overall Review: If your doing nVidia, go for it. I would think twice about anything ATI just because it happened to me, not like my voice or type means anything to anybody........POOP!!!
Goin' Straight Up
Pros: Cools a [email protected] as good as my Cooler Master Geminii w/ 2 120mm fans. Keeps temps at 30-38C with outside case temp of 80F/26.6C and SLI'ed 285s. Comes with a fan controller and TX-2 grease.
Cons: On my Striker II NSE, there is only enough space around the socket to orient it one way. Up/down airflow. That works for my case though "Modded full-tower w/7 fans". It will definately work for the Antec 902 with the top blowhole, which I hope to acquire in the near future.
Overall Review: Worth it for your dollar. As close to WC as you can get with air. $10.00 mail in rebate.
