LG HBS-900 headset
Pros: Retractable wires Comfortable to ware Audible reading of text messages, battery charge state, and time Easy to find, access, and use controls Blue tooth paired with my phone and laptop Has worked well as a phone head set. I am on calls about 3 hours a day at work.
Cons: None yet.
Overall Review: I used an older set of LG 700s before I got these. At first I was disappointed in the sound quality of the 900s. I changed the ear gels to a different size and made sure they were pushed all the way down on the ear buds. After that the sound quality improved and the sound was better then the older 700s.
Power Supply dead after 2 weeks
Pros: Although the case is larger then I expected I do like it better then a tower case. The temp reading on the front is a nice add. Interesting to see how the temp goes up when running games. Cooling is good. Aluminum is thin but I knew that from other reviews and did not have any issues related to that. Running MSI K9N6GM mother board, AMD 4200 X2 CPU, 1G of RAM, ATI 1600 (512 DMA2). 250G Seagate SATA HDD. Wiring is well marked and long enough that you can pull the mother board tray all the way out the back. The tray can be pulled out with the video card installed.
Cons: Power supply went out after 2 weeks of use. Since I sent in the rebate I can not get it replaced. APEVIA will requires that it be replaced by the reseller.
Overall Review: I like the case but since I can not get it repaired and a normal power supply will not fit I am off to find a different brand case. I was able to install a normal size power supply but the CD drive will not go all the way in now.
Nice 2-in-1 laptop for the price
Pros: After reading some of the reviews I was concerned that the case may be flimsy but it is fine. The case is solid and seems high quality. The only place that it has any give is the bottom plate but the frame around it is solid. I like the white color. I have used the laptop a few weeks now and I have not seen any issues. Coming from a gaming laptop to this it runs very cool. I had no issues with it setting in my lap. The upgrade to Windows 11 went well. It just takes a number of reboots to compete. The screen is very bright. Great image. The Pin that comes with it seems to work fine. I have not used one before so I am still learning.
Cons: As others have stated the letters on the white keyboard are hard to see when the keyboard is on. You can still see them. I tend to look at the keyboard some when I am typing (need to work on my typing skills more) and it works fine for me. The Page up and Page down keys are close to the left and right arrow keys but it has not posed an issue for me.
Overall Review: Great laptop for the cost. It has plenty of CPU power for everyday use. Comes with 16G of RAM and 256G storage. Will made laptop and I like the appearance. I like the compact size that still has a 13 inch screen. Although I got this for every day use such as Office applications and web surfing I suspect it will also hold up play some games at low settings. I will try GW2 and see how it does.
Easy setup. No issues during the install
Pros: Working fine with my build. I did not update the bios. I failed to notice the mother board did not have a plug for the case's USB 3.1 Gen 2-compatible USB-C connector. Not a big deal for me. AMD RYZEN 5 3600 ASUS ROG STRIX AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Overclocked 8G CORSAIR RMX Series, RM750x, 750 Watt, NZXT H510 - CA-H510B-W1
Cons: As others have stated, the lights on the mother board are on the back side. I think the idea is it reflects through the "Gaming Plus" words at the bottom of the board. I have to really look to see if they are on. I only see them reflecting off the back of the case.
Overall Review: Great looking mother board and everything was plug and play. I did not have any driver issues and everything just worked.
Works as expected
Pros: The fans are quit and shut down when it is idle. I installed the Asus_Win7Win10_64Bit_19.30.02 drivers and it is work fine at this point. Graphics set to max in Guild Wars 2 and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. No issues yet.
Cons: As with most video cards at this level it is big. Just make sure it fits your case.
Overall Review: Seems to be a great video card. Time will tell.
MSI GS Series GS60 Ghost-007
Pros: The keyboard is one of the best I have used. I have a wired full keyboard connect when at my desk but I find myself using the laptop keyboard anyway. Powerful and fast. The SSD drive for the OS speeds up boot time. I have all my programs installed on the physical 7200 RPM D drive but I can still notice a faster, more consistent load time for games and other programs. The option to autocratically turn off the track pad when a USB mouse is connected is a nice add. I am still learn to use this track pad. I have a mid level gaming ( i7 CPU, Nivida GeForce GTX 560, Window 7) tower that is about 3 years old and this laptop defiantly out preforms it. I play Guild Wars II and I no longer see lag in the game when there are large number of players in an inclosed space. The laptop is lite and seems very well built except for the plastic around the front of the display. The display is very bright, and crisp. I have a 25 inch monitor connected and I still use the laptop display for some things because it looks so good. The font is small because of the high resolution and 15 inch display size but with Windows 8 you can adjust the font size to adapt if needed. I wear glasses and the native font size is fine when setting close to the laptop for me. Camera imaged is good. I like that the power light is blue for the Intel HD graphics and amber when using the Nvidia GeForce. Sound system works great for gaming with a good head set. Built in speakers do provide some directional affect. The sound quality is average for a high end laptop. There is only so much you can do with such small space. Lighted MSI gaming icon on the back of the display is a nice add.
Cons: This are all small issues and have little affect on my overall satisfaction. Run your finger from the back edge of the display to the front and you can feel the sharp edge of the flimsy plastic around the front of the display. It seem so out of place considering the sold high quality of everything else on the laptop. If your going to have a week area this is the place to do it so its not that big a deal to me. LED lights under the keys look impressive. I did not think I would care much about the lighting but I enjoy the look. That said, not all the keys on my keybaord have lighted LEDs all the way around the keys. Most keys have lighted LEDs under each corner of the key. The front LEDs do not light on F7, F8, F9, F11 and over half the keys on the numeric pad. I did call technical support about this and they said not all key have the same level a active LEDs. It is not noticeable until you set directly in from of the keys for a while. The laptop is wider than most 15 inch laptops. I suspect this is related to the good cooling solution this laptop has. This will decrease the options for laptop bags. It does comes with it's own laptop sleeve. The fact that is weighs less than my 14 inch work laptop and is a half inch thinner makes up for it!
Overall Review: I work in IT so I am around laptops all the time. I am very pleased with this laptop and the ones at work seem cheap compared to this one now. I am satisfied with the laptop and I fully expect it will meet my gaming, and work from home needs for several years.
