Great SSD

ADATA S511 Series 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) AS511S3-120GM-C
ADATA S511 Series 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) AS511S3-120GM-C

Pros: Very Fast and will saturate a SATA II connection. Initially setup with SATA II and now I am on SATA III with full speed. So far it hasn't failed me. The case is made of metal and has a good feel of quality to it.

Cons: Random blue screens prior to the firmware update.

Overall Review: After the firmware update that came out in November of 2011 this drive has been flawless. No more blue screens. I highly recommend this drive.

Great product but has some quirks

Muti Fan Controller
Muti Fan Controller

Pros: Works. Shows four different temps and the tape supplied holds the temp wires in place. Four fan guages that react very well to manual rpm changes. The power guage works as well.

Cons: This is a very finicky system that takes some time to install. The wires included are minimal at best. There is a fan splitter for 3 pin drives to send info to your mobo, but there is not a 4 pin header to send info to your mobo. It is not needed, but it would be nice. It takes a lot of organization to get all the wires in place. Also it only accepts a 4 pin header for the 4th fan, so I had to buy a Freezer 7 pro to replace my cooler master hyper tx2. Also, the disply could be better. At times it is very hard to read.

Overall Review: I bought the best 120mm fans for my system. I am writing this so others can do the same mod I did. The fans are by Silverstone and have a 4 pin molex connector with a 3 pin header (only rpm). To modify the fans you will have to cut a 3 pin header from a donor fan and solder or crimp the power, ground, and rpm sensor wires to the donor 3 pin header. In order for the fans to work with this you will still have to connect the included rpm knob to the fan. I set the rpm knob to the max and then the fan controller regulated the voltage correctly. Crazy mod, but now I have the best 120mm fans with the best fan controller. These babies spin up over 100 cfm each at full 12v load.

Failed in less than a year

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ/ST500DM005 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ/ST500DM005 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Quiet

Cons: Failed after less than a year of normal use.

Overall Review: Thanks Seagate for ruining Samsung's once awesome drives. You guys should look back at the blueprints for the Samsung F1 drives and start producing them again because the entire Seagate line of drives are junk.

Failed after 1.5yrs

Western Digital WD Green WD10EARS 1TB 5400 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Cost

Cons: Failed after 1.5yrs

Overall Review: I used this drive for storage and for that purpose it was decent. Luckily it was in a mirror array so all my data is still safe. In my opinion 1.5yrs for a drive that is not an OS drive running at a mere 5400 RPM is poor. I currently have drives that are built much better, i.e. Samsung F1

OK Case, Poor Company

Broadway Com Corp 937PK-BLACK Steel Computer Case Okia ATX 420W Power Supply
Broadway Com Corp 937PK-BLACK Steel Computer Case Okia ATX 420W Power Supply

Pros: Cheap, Comes with a power supply, Cheap

Cons: Poor build quality. The metal is about as thin as a can of soda. The plastic is even thinner. The front of the case arrived cracked due to the poor quality of the plastic. I emailed the company right away and they wanted me to send them the part back first before they would send me a replacement. I'm sorry, but a $2 broken part is not worth shipping back to the company. In contrast, I had an Antec P180 where the side panel came unglued. This happened after the warrenty ran out. Antec shipped me a new side panel at no cost (I offered to pay for it as it was out of warrenty). I am big on customer service. I will not be buying one of these again.

Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and spend a little more and buy a good case from, Chieftec, Antec, Coolermaster, Lian Li, etc.

I'm impressed

Western Digital Blue WD6400AAKS 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
Western Digital Blue WD6400AAKS 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Pros: I first wanted two of the new 320s for a RAID setup, but with the old drives shipping I just bit the bullit and ordered two of these drives. From the reviews these are faster than the 320 single platters. Both drives formatted and did not arrive DOA. I set them up in a RAID 0 configuration and I was blown away with the results. With HD Tach I reached 344.1 MB/s with an average seek time of 12.8. That is much faster than I expected. This drive works with my mobo where my Samsung F1 needs a PCI controller.

Cons: None so far...
