Decent, Rear Mount 120mm Fan
Pros: The older I get, the more I appreciate a quiet PC. This fan is fairly quiet *if* you install it with the (included) variable speed fan controller and adjust it to your liking. Rosewill has impressed me with good quality at an excellent price, and if the shipping wasn't almost as much as this fan, the actual $7.99 price tag would be an excellent deal. Adding the $6.99 for shipping makes this a $15.00 fan, which is a bit of a bummer.
Cons: For me, it only made sense to use this as a rear-mount fan: the fan's power cable is short and must be connected to the variable speed controller, which must be nearby. Also, if you choose not to use the fan speed controller be prepared to experience the noise! For me, this fan is much too noisy at its maximum setting.
Overall Review: I've purchased a number of Rosewill products and am quite pleased with the quality and price -- I'll certainly buy more. With shipping this fan is (currently) $14.98, and that's a good amount of cash for one 120mm fan.
Seasonic Fan for 10 Years
Overall Review: For the last 10 years, Seasonic is the only power supply manufacturer that I'll even consider. I have one running now that's 10 years old, another that's 6 years old, and now this Prime Platinum 550W that I just installed in a newly built system. I have a firm belief that it's best to start a system build with a focus on clean, stable power, so I put the money into a good power supply and a good unlimited power supply (UPS battery backup). I would tell anyone that will listed to use Seasonic. They've always done right by me, and when you unpack one of their power supplies, it's apparent that they want you to know that attention to detail is part of their trademark.
Sat Around for 8 Years & Now Works Great
Pros: Quiet, adjustable speeds, nice workmanship, easy to install.
Cons: None, really.
Overall Review: I bought the CNPS 9500 back in October 2007 and didn't use it. After putting it back in its original packing, I threw it in my attic for 8 years where it endured the extreme heat and cold of the Vermont seasons (from 100F down to -20F). I put this on my new AMD A10-7700K back in early March 2015 and it works slicker than goose poop. I'm impressed.
