Excellent Drives, No Problems

Pros: Western Digital has done it again. What a great hard drive. I have a custom Home Based File and Print Server. It has 8 Western Digital hard drives. Of those 8 drives, I have 6 of these 500GB drives for data storage; that’s 3TB’s worth of storage. I have these drives in a 24/7 operation, and none, I repeat, NONE of them have quit, produced bad sectors, or had any type of malfunction. They get antivirus and malware scans on a daily basis. I am glad that I purchased these drives. I’m saving money on reduced power usage, let alone, they are nicely priced.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Overall Review: What do you have to loose. These drives are nicely priced and do last, I should know !!!
Bad sectors from start..

Pros: I will give the drive I have some credit. While it still functions 7-8 months later, it is showing bad sectors. It shows only a few, but due to them being bad, I'm replacing the hard drive. I already backed up the os partitions, so reloading is not an issue. This drive is an oem drive from Acer, but I'm not going to wait for the RMA from them.
Cons: The only real con that I have is the bad sectors. Still functions, but just do not trust it anymore.
Overall Review: I'm going to keep the drive and put it in a anti-static bag. I'm doing it just in case the replacement drive fails for any reason.
Great pci SATA Card, way to go Promise

Pros: Promise Tech. does it again !!! I purchased three of these cards to be used in a home based file server. I did not realize from the ad that you can only use two at a time. I eventually purchased a 4 port SATA card with one 2 Port. Works wonderfully, glad that I purchased a Promise Tech. product. have been running 6 sata II drives for almost a year, and no down time.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Remember, you can only run 2 PCI SATA cards at a time. For me, I wanted 6 hard drives. I purchased 3 of the two port cards, only to find out that the third will not install. So I purchased a 4 port and a 2 port card to get 6 drives. So if you wanted 10 drives, you will need to purchase a 8 port and a 2 port pci card.
Works GREAT, after a year in use

Pros: Promise makes excellent controller cards. I had the old pci IDE cards and now I upgraded to SATA II. I love it, no more big IDE ribbons in the way to constrict air flow. The card is installed with a 2002 Intel Pentium 4 processor. I only used the card under windows which I installed the driver once Windows was installed. Great card, willing to purchase from Promise Tech. again.
Cons: None
Excellent Server Case

Pros: This case is excellent in building a large file server. I have all the hard drive bays full (6-500 GB SATA II drives) and I also have 2 more hard drives installed in the lower 5.25 bays via adapters. The power supply area in the lower section allowed me to use two power supplies in series (one for the motherboard and the other for the hard drives and fans) Lots of room, cable management is great, you won’t be disappointed.
Cons: I wish it would support extended atx motherboards
Overall Review: Yes, the case does have plastic parts, but seriously, how much weigh does it already need. I mean come on, what do you want, more steel. Just be careful when you move the case around. I have already have had the case for almost a year, and it still looks like I just purchased it. I can’t even believe that it’s already been a year!!! The fans are still going strong; the plastic parts are still in mint shape. One thought though is the side fan, I had to install washers between the window and fan so that the fan is farther from the side window. The fan did tick against it, but putting in the washer made it go away.
