One helluva GPU

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-1972-KR 4GB SC GAMING, Silent Cooling Graphics Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-1972-KR 4GB SC GAMING, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: This card is an absolute beast and I can't say enough positives about it. I can run pretty much anything on Ultra @ 1080p @ 60fps, including latest titles like Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition (just tone down the anti-aliasing a little bit). They managed to make the dimensions of this card smaller than the reference cards; so EVGA's cards are the only 970 cards that fit inside my small form factor Alienware X51 R2 case. With a total power draw of only 145w, I can run this on my X51's 330w power supply without under-clocking (I haven't tried overclocking - not yet that is). Under full load and a somewhat aggressive fan curve using MSI Afterburner, this thing barely touches the 70°C mark (about 15°C cooler on average than my previous 760 Ti OEM card). Whilst some have pointed out the fan-noise, I'm not complaining coming from my 760 which was significantly louder (and in any case, I use head phones while gaming). Given the small form factor of the X51, I was inclined to not take any chances with overheating issues and shied away from cards using ACX cooling and instead decided to go with this one with the blower fan. I personally have not had any issues with coil-whine with this card. Overall, I'm having a blast with this card.

Cons: Not at all an issue for me, but visually this card isn't what you would call a "looker". For folks with transparent cases who care about aesthetics, this card isn't quite as good-looking or striking as some of it's peers. Personally, I couldn't care less.
