Amazing Power!!

SILVERSTONE ST1500 1500W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Active PFC Full Modular Power Supply
SILVERSTONE ST1500 1500W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Active PFC Full Modular Power Supply

Pros: I have went through many PSU's in my 20 years worth of building PC's and this unit is top notch. This unit replaced an aging PC Power & Cooling 1KW unit that was failing. I put this in a year ago and have had zero issues with it. I love the fact it is modular and I can only use the cables I need. During heavy loads I am pulling 1200 watts from the wall and this PSU doesn't flinch.

Cons: These are just a few minor issues I have with the unit. If these could be fixed in a new version I would 5 star the unit. 1. I wish there was an ON/OFF switch on the rear of the unit. 2. I wish the 20 + 4 was actually just a 24 pin plug. It is somewhat difficult to get locked together and connected. Who is buying a 1500 watt PSU and putting it in a 10 year old computer that requires a 20 pin anyways??? 3. I wish the PCIe power cords were about 6 inches longer. I run Tri-SLI and the reaching the bottom card with the PSU mounted at the top of a full tower size case barely reaches.

Random Keys Don't Work

RAZER Black USB Wired BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
RAZER Black USB Wired BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: I liked the tactile feedback of the switches.

Cons: The keyboard has become unusable. I have multiple keys that either don't register or send multiple key presses when you only press the key once. I am not sure if it is their terrible Synapse 2.0 Software, Driver issue, Firmware or a mechanical issue. I have seen more and more issues popping up around the web with the same problem and with no resolution as of yet. It makes the keyboard useless.

Overall Review: Shop around and purchase something else for now :-(

Kingston Support is Horrible

Kingston HyperX SH100S3B/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (HyperX Upgrade Kit)
Kingston HyperX SH100S3B/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (HyperX Upgrade Kit)

Pros: My 2 drives in a RAID 0 array for the OS and my main programs was very very fast when the drives worked. I was READING at 1.1 GB per/sec and writing at 980 MB per/sec . Nice extras with the external USB enclosure and screw driver.

Cons: 5 weeks after owning the drives I started getting error messages when booting into Windows telling me a disk is failing. Once into Windows the Intel Disk management software also reported that the Kingston drives were failing. I tested the drives with several benchmarks and indeed they were only performing about 25% as fast as they once did. I am getting random BSOD's and it is complete luck if the system boots right now or not. I submitted a support ticket to Kingston requesting help and or get an RMA started. That was 10 days ago and I have yet to get a response? This is absolutely ridiculous and should never happen. This is the first time I have ever purchased any Kingston product and it will be the last unless they fix this issue immediately!! I build roughly 10 systems a year and have done so for the past 17 years. I don't know if this is normal Kingston procedure and how they normally operate for support requests? I hope not as this is very poor!!!

Overall Review: Currently the drives are worthless as the system will only start occasionally. If it makes it into windows it usually BSOD's shortly after. I have installed Windows on another HD for the time being until I can get these drives replaced. I did see on Kingston's website that there is an URGENT Firmware update for these drives. The update says it fixes an issue where the drives are disappearing. This isn't what is happening with mine but I will update the Firmware none the less and see if it helps.

"First Impressions"

SILVERSTONE ST1500 1500W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Active PFC Full Modular Power Supply
SILVERSTONE ST1500 1500W ATX 12V 2.3 & EPS 12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Active PFC Full Modular Power Supply

Pros: I love that it is modular. According to JonnyGuru it has excellent voltage regulation and almost no ripple.

Cons: The 6+2 for your 8 pin hardware like Video cards and such are terrible. They are very hard to maneuver around to get them to fit into your video cards. I own a full tower case and the 6+8 pin cords that are supplied for the video cards are very very short. The cord almost didn't reach for my card that is located in the bottom PCIe slot. I had to run the cord straight down as there was no room to hide it at all. My 1000 watt PC P&C is heavier and bigger than this unit. That worries me a bit as well. The bag that comes with the unit isn't a bag it's more like a pice of canvas with some Velcro on it so you can roll up your extra cords. I would have preferred a real bag. The 20+4 connector is also terrible. Really do you think someone with a 20 pin motherboard is going to be buying a brand new 1500 watt power supply? Come on Silverstone just make a solid one piece 24 pin plug.

Overall Review: I have owned a lot of computer equipment in the last 20 years and with all the cons I listed this still is a very nice piece of hardware. Hopefully I can buy some longer PCIe cords for my graphics cards so that I can run them nice and neat behind my Motherboard tray and what not.

Piece of mind

PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW-SR 1000W Continuous @ 50°C EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I have used PC P&C power supplies for several years now. When shopping for a 1K unit I was reluctant to pay $500+ for a PSU so I bought another brand and it died on me after 1 month. I returned it and bought this PSU which was my first choice. This PSU has been powering my gaming rig for over a year now and has never skipped a beat. If you need piece of mind like I do this is the PSU for you.

Cons: Very large but most 1KW PSU's are.

Overall Review: It would take a lot of convincing to get me ever to switch from PC P&C again. I have never had an issue with the last 10 PC P&C units I have owned.

Pros: Very fast. I have burned many DVD's and CD's with no coasters. LightScribe is very very cool and gives my Digital Animation projects a real proffesional look.

Cons: Not SATA. They need more SATA drives !!!!!!!!

Overall Review: A bit pricey and still am not sure if the lightScribe is going to wear this drive out faster than normal but it is so cool!!!!!
