Virtually Silent Powerhorse...

COOLMAX CL-400L 400W ATX12V Power Supply
COOLMAX CL-400L 400W ATX12V Power Supply

Comments: Just received this bad boy yesterday (thanks to Neweggs IMPECCIBLE service) - Built a system from scratch with an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton, 512 MB of Corsair, an ASUS 9250 256 MB Graphics card, SB Audigy Z2 - The machine is SILENT (up until the DVD Drive spins up - but that's a different story). When you put your hand right above the PSU - you can feel the unit humming - but that's about it...AWESOME!

Disappointment - No GPS, Weak WiFi, Laggy - Returned

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.30GHz 1GB Memory 10.1" 1280 x 800 Transformer Prime - Gray Android 3.2 Honeycomb Platform (upgradable to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich)
ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.30GHz 1GB Memory 10.1" 1280 x 800 Transformer Prime - Gray Android 3.2 Honeycomb Platform (upgradable to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich)

Pros: The home screens are incredibly smooth to scroll through. Customization factor = very high. Great looking tablet - excellent, sleek design. The battery lasts an incredibly long time (and doesn't take very long to fully charge).

Cons: Still laggy - seems like the quad-core forgets what it's there for. Awful at multi-tasking. Even going through the settings screen with no other applications running produced lag. ICS produced the same results. Perhaps more ICS-optimized applications in the future will remedy this. GPS is non-existent (literally - the "fix" by Asus was to remove "GPS" from the spec sheet entirely claiming only that AGPS works - and that's with an active WiFi connection). This was a feature I was greatly looking forward to. Would have gotten 3 eggs with an even semi-functioning GPS unit. Weak WiFi. Awful camera (on par with years-old cellphone tech). Temperamental touchscreen - Most of the time it registers touches just fine - but there were enough double and triple touches for me to notice that it's not quite up to snuff - and thus, worth a mention.

Overall Review: This was to be my first tablet and I was incredibly excited to receive it. I first received it with Honeycomb installed, and this was just a laggy experience overall. I hoped ICS would fix this - sadly, it only increased speed when flipping through the home-screens. I encountered MAJOR lag when using the tablet while downloading other applications (on "performance" mode). The whole reason for a quad-core, or so I thought - was to assist with multi-tasking. This thing just stutters and shakes when trying to do more than one thing at a time - which is something I don't need in a tablet. GPS does not work. It was initially listed on the spec sheet, but Asus removed it once end users found the aluminum backplate blocked the signal. Some people are able to get at least a few satellites to lock, but not enough to navigate. My unit never once locked onto a single satellite. WiFi was pretty weak for the same reason and fluctuated greatly throughout my condo (single floor, 1500

SUPER Easy Setup - FAST Speeds!

D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit
D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit

Pros: VERY Easy to Setup. VERY Fast Speeds. For whatever reason, the thing JUST WORKS!

Cons: None that I can think of (of course the true test will be: Can it last longer than a year?)

Overall Review: I bought this unit to replace a "I'm going to flash my power-light on and off to indicate that I am dead" Lynksys WRT54GX Router (check their forums, it's a pretty common problem). I thought Linksys was "the best" but after this, I'm a PURE D-Link convert. The FIRST thing I noticed was how incredibly easy this thing was to install. I tore off the shrink wrap, opened the box, popped the CD in, followed the directions (complete with nifty animations showing you where to plug what cables), connected 3 wireless computers, 2 printers AND an XBox 360. Elapsed Time? LESS than 15 minutes! I stepped into my house at 9:45 with the new unit, and by 10:00 sharp I was playing XBox Live with my friend (all of the settings were already programmed into the router firmware - you just click on "XBox Live" and it automatically sets up all of the port-forwarding options you need.) The transfer rates are insane and even speedtest.net indicates that internet speed on my laptops has increased!

Disappointment - To Say the Least...

Linksys WRT54GX2 Wireless-G Broadband Router With SRX200 IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g
Linksys WRT54GX2 Wireless-G Broadband Router With SRX200 IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g

Pros: Well, when everything stays connected, it's absolutely fantastic. You get great speeds and great range. No qualms about it working properly...

Cons: Prepare to experience CONSTANT disconnects. I find myself having to "repair" the connection on my laptop at LEAST once a day. When that doesn't work, I'm forced to reboot my laptop just so it can pick up the router (which is about 15 feet from the laptop - straight line of site - NOTHING in between the laptop and the router)...

Overall Review: After upgrading the firmware, the problem slowed down a bit. When I first had it I had to "repair" my wireless network connection every time I wanted to use my laptop, now it's down to a once a day...

Awesome Camera - FANTASTIC PQ!

Logitech 961310-0403 QuickCam Orbit USB2.0 WebCam
Logitech 961310-0403 QuickCam Orbit USB2.0 WebCam

Comments: This is by far the best webcam I have ever owned. My most recent prior to this was the Notebook Pro which was also good, but the picture quality of this one just blows everything else away. Everyone who I webcam with is amazed at how clear everything looks. The motorized orb actually works (although its a bit tempermental in dimly lit situations). If you're considering this one - GET IT. It's WELL worth the extra cash...definitely...

wow - thats the best word to describe these...
