Great so far
Pros: Works exactly as advertised.Fairly simple to install.Plenty of wire to reach across a tower case.
Cons: No installation instructions.
Overall Review: It was simple to install. It mounted straight into the drive bay just like you'd expect. The leads to the fans are all numbered so you can assign the channels ahead of time and know which channel controlled which fan without wasting time experimenting afterwards. So it was mostly self-explanatory. But it also has a thermocouple you can use to automatically adjust the fans according to temperature. Which is great, but they don't include any instructions on where, or how, to mount the thermocouple. This may not be a problem if you've installed fan controllers before. Since this is my first one, I had no idea where to put it. I just laid it across the CPU cooler. I don't plan to use auto mode anyhow.Functionally, this thing is great. It's simple to operate... which makes it funny that there is an entire page of instructions on how to operate it. I've only had it installed a few hours so I can't say anything about the durability. Also, the lights aren't annoyingly bright. That was a concern for me since this is our HTPC.I would definitely recommend it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one for a different rig. I just knocked one egg off because it didn't include directions on what to do with the thermocouple. If that isn't a problem for you, then this is worth the money.
Pros: - Good ergonomics - Solid construction - Very tweakable
Cons: - Goofy split spacebar - Uneven lighting
Overall Review: When we first received the keyboard in late July the LED behind the F11 key wasn't working. We RMA'd it and got a replacement in a reasonably timely fashion. The replacement is missing the gold "C" decal from the "COUGAR" logo at the top of the keyboard. But that's not an issue worth the trouble of an RMA. The only two complaints I have are the weird way they split the spacebar and the uneven light from the LEDs. The spacebar is an easy fix with the software. The lighting isn't a serious issue... it just gives me OCD fits to see some characters lit more dimly than others. But this may be a common thing with backlit keyboards; I've never had another one to compare to. Overall, I'd gladly recommend the keyboard. It isn't for those who just need a basic keyboard they can see in a dark room. But if you want something you can customize to work with macros and hotkeys, or to only light certain keys for gaming in the dark, it's certainly worth a look. The supporting software offers much more flexibility than I have even begun to explore. I stopped short of a 5-star rating because 1) it is a bit expensive for what you get. You can get mechanical keyboards with programmable RGB lights for a third the price. 2) Minor quibbles like missing decals matter at this price level.
