Professional quality LCD

ViewSonic 19" Active Matrix, TFT LCD SXGA Hight Adjustable LCD Monitor 4ms gray-to-gray (avg); 8ms white-black-white (typ) D-Sub, DVI-D Pro Series VP920b
ViewSonic 19" Active Matrix, TFT LCD SXGA Hight Adjustable LCD Monitor 4ms gray-to-gray (avg); 8ms white-black-white (typ) D-Sub, DVI-D Pro Series VP920b

Pros: Good ergonomic design, very thin border edges, no ghosting, great color range. Mine had no detectable dead pixils.

Cons: Backlight shines through around the edges, only noticible when screen shows black (i.e., when showing a black background), but I think this is a common issue with all LCDs. Front menu select buttons kind of hard to press.

Overall Review: There are not a lot of reviews for this fine LCD monitor, so I thought I would add my own. This is Viewsonics Pro (VP) series, which is superior to their VX series. The VXs may list a faster millisecond speed, and that may well be true, but the VPs have a greater color range and the design of the VP920 is far more professional than any VX. The thin edgeline also makes these great for dual monitor setup, which is what I eventually plan to do.

Seems slow

Seagate 1TB Expansion Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 Model STBX1000101 Black
Seagate 1TB Expansion Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 Model STBX1000101 Black

Pros: Nice small drive, powered off USB so no need for extra power source. Very quiet.

Cons: My issue is that it seems pretty slow for a USB 3.0 drive. It seems to be running about 130 mbit/s (15 to 16 MB/s), which is not even full USB 2.0 speed. Yes, I do have it plugged into a USB 3.0 port, which I have had working with other, faster USB 3.0 drives and memory sticks. I guess it's just not a very fast USB 3 drive. It took about 10 hours to copy 600 GB, which is pretty slow.

Overall Review: I just use the drive to rsync my file server for backups, so after the first copy of all my data, future rsyncs should not take nearly as long. Still, I wish the drive would actually run at USB 3.0 speed.
