The right Formula
Pros: As of right now, this board is the Frank LLoyd Wright of AM3 motherboards.... Might not be for everybody, but its mix of features and style with very high functionality make it the right choice for many folks moving to 890FX based motherboards. NO I am not an Asus fanboi...but I suppose I am a fan, as this is my third Asus motherboard for my own personal rigs over the past 8 or 9 years....And I have used many Asus boards for client builds also....maybe not the lowest price in the store, but NEVER a wrong choice; which these days is about all you can really ask for with computer hardware. Feature rich, and more BIOS tweaks than you can know what to do with.... A solid choice for both the Gamer and the Techie (like myself). It will run DDR3-2000 RAM (G.Skill RipJaws 4 x 2GB)(and likely higher) with no complaints, but a few BIOS tweaks were required, altho the specs would imply that DDR3-1866 is the highest. Asus needs to clarify some of those marketing details a bit.
Cons: I wish it had a IDE port and, yes, a Floppy port...please no flames...just my personality likes. Only has 6 SATA-3 ports + 1 J-Micro SATA-II port (plus back e-SATA port), could have used 8 or 10 SATA-3 ports, but maybe thats too much to ask for a consumer board.
Overall Review: Has like 8 on-board Fan ports... I would like to see more simple packaging in exchange for a lower price...don't need the Macy's look for computer hardware. I feel the on-board audio is much better sounding than on my old DFI NF4 board from 2006 even with my analog 5.1 speakers, and seems like the audio power is higher. I wasn't sure the $30 extra over the MSI (1 yr warranty) or Gigabyte 890FX boards would be worth it, but now I am happy I went Asus, altho the other boards would probably be good choices too.
Backing fell off after a few days...lost one
Pros: seemed like a decent value for the diamond size....
Cons: Wife loved them...so that was good...a few days later she lost one of them because the backing came off on its own and the ring fell out....she didn't realize it until she got home....anybody wanna buy a single one of these ?
Overall Review: VERY unhappy after spending money and losing one in only a few days.... 8-(
have to relearn controls after 25 years
Pros: runs fine on Win 10
Cons: relearning controls after 25 years
Overall Review: runs good.
1TB is the sweet Spot....Hope it lasts
Pros: Great price per GB.... Hope it lasts.... Good speeds.... Plugged right up. Used my Wavlink drive cloner...worked fine. Using as a data drive...3 partitions....
Cons: None yet....
Overall Review: Cautiously optimistic..... 8-)
Poor POOR Manual
Overall Review: Seems to be working now that I used a different target drive, altho the one I was using IS larger than the source, maybe the partition is wonked….. Will re-do the partition and try again.....
so far, so good
Pros: Decent price.... nice packaging..... wish the capacity was greater.... See how it lasts....
Cons: Clone process never worked quite right...ended up doing a fresh install of win 10 similar to a dual boot set up.... once completed, it runs nicely.
