High Quality Power Supply -- Recommended
Pros: - Modular with more than enough cables - High Efficiency - Low Noise levels - Nice laid out documents with diagrams for plugging in Modular cables ++ - Lot of room for power for future additions of GPU/ Drives etc - 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified ++ - Premium Hybrid Fan Control - 12 Years Warranty - My third Seasonic powersupply, none Issues with any one of those
Cons: - Comparitively expensive but would rather go for minimum 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified - Premium Hybrid Fan Control button too close to main Power
Overall Review: - Highly Recommended
Worst Purchase Ever
Pros: Don't know if this works well with other MOBO's but with ASUS Striker II Extreme it surely does not..
Cons: OCZ GOLD == AVOID buying at all costs One of the worst experiences ever..This memory is not at all compliant with the Asus Striker II Extreme Mobo. ( basically the 790i Chipset As it boils down to) tried tons of settings to make it work.. system works for sometime but under memory pressure gives up sooner or later... (HANGS) Cannot ever get to 1600 as stated in unlinked mode. works on 1333mhz only for variable periods.. Went thro' the OCZ forums for a stable timings , tried them .. they all do not seem to work. Tested with chips from Gskill and OCZ Platinum from friends PC, GSKILL works like a charm and so does OCZ platinum Think i should have read more reviews before buying the above.. (NOTE: OCZ Platinum also works nicely with this board... should have bought that i guess..!!)
Great Value for Money, Well thought Product, Highly Recommended
Pros: My Second Build with ASROCK.. - Quality components on the board - 3 M.2 SSD's - compliant with Samsung 960 Pro 512 - 3 PCIe 3.0 x16, 2 PCIe 3.0 x1 more than enough for future upgrades. - Additional USB 3.1 Gen2 header for Type C - Overclocking.RGB, WiFi(AC), Bluetooth - Paired with Gigabyte 1070Ti ,Intel Core i7 8700K and G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) ,Corsair Hydro Series H100i V2, Seasonic PRIME Ultra 1000W 80+ Platinum Power Supply in a Collermaster HAF- X Case, with added 120mm Fan at the top - Screams performance , System scored 6942 IN Time Spy 1.0 (3D mark test Results) -- Better than 81% of the results.. - Plugged all the fans in Montherboard chassis/cpu fan slots. - special slot for plugging in water cooler/fan - above setup reduces fan noise since H100i V2 allows fan speed control with different configurations
Cons: - Limited number of USB ports ( will need to have a USB Hub if you have quite a lot of USB Devices) then again at least couple can be found on the Monitors now a days. - Asrock's user manual to be well-written and complete with all the necessary diagrams except a seperate quick Setup motherboard diagram, was hard to keep on flipping pages to diagram and port description. - if you use one M.2 one SATA pair ports get disabled. haven't tested with all M.2 Plugged in ? - Install I/O shield into the case back plane before you put the motherboard into the case. impossible to press it in from outside later. - Note Really a cons but Should have atleast 1 M.2 HeatSink Included, Avg temp for M.2 SSD = 90-96F
Overall Review: This review for ASRock review rebate program.
Worst Buy Ever
Pros: Fast, but if it ever works....
Cons: Disappointed in the Motherboard from ASUS. Had so high hopes from it, Had problems with it the day i got it. Most major being the Memory Put in OCZ OCZ3G16004GK (2x2GB), supposed to run @ 1600, well the board always sees it @ 1333. tried various settings, spent ton's of time with OCZ. well finally gave up after trying manual settings. moved the memory from slots 1 and 3 to 2 and 4, after i came to realize that they operate differently( Note no mention in ASUS documentation) got it to a point where system would be stable for atleast 2hrs altho' not always. tried various other Mem chips as well to no avail. Currently having problems with nvidia network controllers, evidently they will not connect to any network, the lights are red and amber meaning no connectivity. pushed that same network cable to laptop, works like a charm. In all, for all the good things about ASUS from past experience, i think i am going to stay quite a bit away from ASUS one word to put it is HORRIBLE.
Overall Review: Been an ASUS customer since Years, built tons of custom systems for myself and also for my buddies. but this build was the WORSE ever. Here are my Sys Specs: ASUS Striker II Extreme CPU INTEL|C2Q Q9400 2.66G 775 45N PSU SILVERSTONE|DA1000 1000W VGA EVGA 01G-P3-N891-AR GF9800GX2 MEM 2Gx2|OCZ OCZ3G16004GK 500x2 Gb Western Digital SATA II Drives in Raid 0 1 Tb Seagate SATA II 500 gb Western Digital IDE OS: MultiBoot Windows 7 x64 Windows XP x32 Windows Vista x64 I guess the reviews on all other review sites were just to promote it cause no matter what you use this board will not work right. Contemplating, should i RMA it of just trash it for all the time and effort that i have spent on it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOBO, UNLESS YOU REALLY LIKE HEADACHES And NIGHTMARES.
