Why the Complaints?

LINKSYS NSLU2 Diskless System Network Storage Link for USB2.0 Disk Drives
LINKSYS NSLU2 Diskless System Network Storage Link for USB2.0 Disk Drives

Pros: Works well, easy to configure, small and simple.

Cons: Not NTFS, but this is not really a big deal.

Overall Review: I don't see what all the fuss is about regarding speed or configurability. I had this working within 15 minutes of opening the box. The configuration is easy for anyone who has configured Linksys routers. Maybe it is not the fastest thing in the world, but expectation levels should always tempered by price. When you install this, do yourself a favor and let the disk format in its native format rather than forcing it to be Windows compatible. This is much more flexible.

Excellent Value

ASUS VH236H Black 23" Full HD Widescreen LCD Monitor w/ Speakers 300 cd/m2 20000 :1 (ASCR)
ASUS VH236H Black 23" Full HD Widescreen LCD Monitor w/ Speakers 300 cd/m2 20000 :1 (ASCR)

Pros: Excellent value, well made, good sharpness & color.

Cons: Stand is very basic - cld have added a swivel feature for $1.00.

Overall Review: No, this isn't an expensive IPS-type display, and the stand is kind of cheap. But it's sharp and has good color, and small speakers if you need them. A 23" 1920 x 1080 LCD seems to be the sweet spot in price/performance these days. This is the second ASUS display I purchased (the other one was a hard-to-find 19" 1680x1050 LCD) and this one doesn't disappoint either. Excellent value. One-day service (I live in one of the States where Newegg will deliver via courier) didn't hurt either, even for an extra fee. Highly recommended.

Great LCD

ASUS 19" WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI-D VW198T
ASUS 19" WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI-D VW198T

Pros: I wanted a monitor with the following criteria: 16:10 aspect ratio; physically small as possible (for my home office away from the office); 1680x1050 resolution. This is one of the few 19" monitors with 1680x1050 resolution, and it looks great. No dead pixels, great color, modest price, business-like appearance. Stand is not as bad as others have commented. While I was initially concerned about the small pixel-pitch on a 19" 1680x1050 monitor, it is only 5% smaller than a 20" monitor of the same resolution, and I enlarge Windows text to 125% of normal anyway. Moreover, the small pixel-pitch really smooths things out. Overall better than expected, especially for the price. I neither need nor want a 22"-plus behemoth on my desk, and this didn't disappoint.

Cons: Stand only angles from -5 degrees to +20 degrees; I like my monitors more tilted back, to 25 degrees or so. ASUS doesn't provide screen drivers, but this has posed no problems with Windows 7. Both issues are minor.

Great Board

ASUS M3A78-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M3A78-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Exudes quality. Worked first time, every time. BIOS is easy to configure. Great feature set for the price.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: The 780V chipset gives up little to the 780G. This board has all the things that I need and none that I don't. Seems to be made very well.

Works Great - Invisible!!

AMD Athlon 64 LE-1620 - Athlon 64 Single-Core 2.4 GHz Socket AM2 45W Processor - ADH1620DHBOX
AMD Athlon 64 LE-1620 - Athlon 64 Single-Core 2.4 GHz Socket AM2 45W Processor - ADH1620DHBOX

Pros: The computer press - and many buyers - are unreasonably obscessed with CPU speed and/or the number of cores. In my experience, systems are much more constrained by other things: memory, bloatware, disks, etc. This CPU is fast enough and totally unobtrusive. Because it draws so little power and runs so cool, the stock cooler is just fine, and very quiet (especially after invoking the "cool 'n quiet" function). I installed this on a GigaByte motherboard with the 690G chipset. Worked first time, every time. Install at least 2Gb of memory, use XP instead of Vista, and you will swear this is a "power" system.

Cons: None yet, hopefully never.

Overall Review: See Pros above.

Great Budget 19" LCD...

SAMSUNG 19" WXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub 920NW
SAMSUNG 19" WXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub 920NW

Pros: Very sharp text and good colors. Well made. Even though the base does not have a height adjustment, it is at the right height. No dead pixels (at least I haven't found any yet).

Cons: As is true with most LCDs I have viewed, you have reduce the brightness and tweak the contract a bit in order to insure that subtle details don't get washed out. But the adjustments are there, and it doesn't take long.

Overall Review: I was initially wary of "widescreens" for business use, but I am sold. A 19" 1440x900 LCD has a pixel size of .285mm. Larger widescreen LCDs (20" or above) may have higher resolution but they also have smaller pixels (1680x1050, with .258mm pixels, for example), so that you must play much more with Windows text size adjustments to see text well. The largest pixel size of all is a 19" 1280x1024 LCD (at .294mm), but the wider screen is better for me now because I wear "transitions" eyeglasses which have the reading portion on the lower half of the lenses. Therefore, a lower, wider screen means I have to crane my neck up much, much less. Sometimes, these little details matter. A bigger screen with higher resolution is not always better in all circumstances.
