Great performance
Pros: Great performance as a boot drive for AtomicPi. 400MB/s read and 220MB/s write with a Intel 660p SSD. (vs. the AtomicPi's built-in MMC drive: 100MB/s read and 37MB/s write.)
Cons: I'm confused as to what the thermal pad is for. It's too thin to touch both the SSD and the USB Adapter board. So I folded it in half so it is twice as thick, but now the SSD is bulging out a little bit. It's probably not even necessary.
Overall Review: This allows using a real SSD with single-board-computers. I've burned through so many SD cards and USB flash drives because they are not designed to be used as OS boot drives.
Do not use as OS boot drive
Pros: Sturdy metal case.
Cons: - Not great read or write speed for a USB3 drive. 220MB/s read, 45MB/s write - Occasionally drive is unresponsive for a couple minutes.
Overall Review: Don't use this as an OS boot drive. I tried with 2 units and both became slow and unusable within a few days. I instead recommend a real NVMe SSD with a USB to NVMe adapter.
Pros: Solid construction. Magnetic latch is cool.
Cons: Where is the mount for the ceiling? The product description didn't mention I would need additional hardware to mount this thing. I know I can get a 1.5" NPT flange mount from the hardware store, but it wont look good. The installation manual gives a reference to "one of Premier Mount's adjustable-height ceiling adapters" but gives no part #.
