TOSHIBA Laptop Qosmio Intel Core i7-720QM 6GB Memory 320GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M 18.4" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit X505-Q875

Pros: Installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a 2nd drive so Toshiba's Win7 installation was not affected. As others have noted video is sharp. HD Dual screen operation was important feature for me since I have 3-4 windows open during code development. Wireless is more sensitive than any other laptop I own. Getting all bars where my other laptops have only one or two. HDMI output also a plus I was able to stream video and watch it on my 60" TV in HD. (Only time I use Win7) Battery life about 2hrs.

Cons: Don't know why video screens are going back to that shiny reflective surface. The last couple of monitors I replaced were also shiny and reflective. Not a big deal since I use this only in the office where the lighting can be controlled. The mounting bracket for the 2nd drive does not come with this unit. If new egg still doesn't carry it you can get it from Toshiba's distributor in NY (National Parts Depot PN: A000049520).

Overall Review: I use this laptop primarily for Linux code development. It is used as a server in my home office and brought into the office for presentations and demo's. I will leave Win7 comments to others. Supply and laptop are a bit heavy but quite managable. The Everki backpack works just fine when transporting from home to office. I'm not a fan of any laptop keyboard or mouse pad. I use external for both most of the time. There is a custom keyboard cover available for X505's that keeps stuff from getting between the keys and gives a better tactical feel when typing in my opinon. If you are installing Ubuntu 10.04 you will need a hard wire net connection to download the updates. Once the updates are loaded the Wireless works fine.
