Great HDD, Horrible RMA process

HGST Travelstar 7K1000 HTS721010A9E630 (0J22423) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive (Standard Model) Bare Drive
HGST Travelstar 7K1000 HTS721010A9E630 (0J22423) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive (Standard Model) Bare Drive

Pros: Fast hard drive (I upgraded from a 5400 RPM drive), lots of space, pretty much everything you could want from a drive.

Cons: No cons with the hard drive itself (see other thoughts)

Overall Review: I know hard drives always have the possibility to fail randomly, that's just the nature of the beast, however you should hope that yours doesn't fail. While HGST will hand you the RMA if it's still under warranty, their return process is insane. Their shipping requirements are incredibly strict, and they warn that not following them exactly will result in your warranty being voided upon arrival. This wouldn't be such a big deal except they don't really allow for any packaging materials that are readily available in my area, and I'm going to end up spending almost $30 just on packaging, and I still have to pay for shipping itself. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I can return my faulty drive for a replacement, but I'd like it if HGST could have a bit looser packaging restrictions (A simple addition of air pouches (the material Newegg shipped the drive to me in the first place) to the accepted list would do wonders) or at least offer free return shipping.
