Most Critical Review

So far a disaster

EVGA GeForce 9400 GT 512MB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 512-P3-N944-LR
EVGA GeForce 9400 GT 512MB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 512-P3-N944-LR

Pros: Ummm... Came quickly.

Cons: I plugged the card in and the machine would spontaneously shut down. Eventually I left the cover off and turned the machine on; sparks flew out of the card and the machine shut down. I guess I'm lucky it didn't fry the mobo. In the meantime, I sent the rebate in; now Newegg won't honor the RMA because I snipped the UPC code out. And, of course, I haven't seen or heard anything about the rebate. So far I'm out of $73 including return shipping to Newegg, will be out another $8 in shipping to whereever, and no card and no rebate.

Overall Review: To be fair to Newegg, their terms state that snipping the UPC code will make the item ineligible for return; but *replacement of a product that nearly set my machine on fire?* Come ON! So altogether I'll be out over $80 and maybe 2 months for this run-of-the-mill video card.

Junk.

Hot USB 6 LED 12 Megapixel Webcam Camera Web Cam With Mic For Desktop/PC/Laptop!
Hot USB 6 LED 12 Megapixel Webcam Camera Web Cam With Mic For Desktop/PC/Laptop!

Pros: None, not even price.

Cons: it does work, produces a picture. But it has such a narrow field of view that it's nearly useless. The camera is made of the cheapest plastic available. Those LEDs look like plain LEDs - and you need to flip them on with a tiny switch on the back. I thought that maybe they might be IR; no joy. The microphone does not work.

Overall Review: Not recommended. Not even worth shipping back; it would cost more than I paid for it.

Where's the tech info?

Lenovo ThinkServer TS430 Tower Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz 2GB DDR3 Server (039013U) Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz 2GB DDR3 039013U
Lenovo ThinkServer TS430 Tower Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz 2GB DDR3 Server (039013U) Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz 2GB DDR3 039013U

Pros: Looks cool.

Cons: There's absolutely no information on the different models anywhere on the Lenovo website. I need a model with 4 SATA hot swap backplane. Maybe 2 cages. NOWHERE does Lenovo tell me what models come with which cages, or if the backplanes are SAS or SATA. If you put in the specific model into the lenovo website search engine, it comes up with 0 results. If you put it into the support page, it returns ALL models within that line. Totally useless.

Overall Review: All in all looks like a good product that's hampered by a total lack of any technical specs for each model.

Works well when it works

Adaptec SCSI Card 29320LPE 2248700-R PCIe x1 Controller Card, Single
Adaptec SCSI Card 29320LPE 2248700-R PCIe x1 Controller Card, Single

Pros: When it's up and running, it fast. It uses a PCI-e 1x slot.

Cons: My main system, built on a Asus m2n-sli deluxe, has experienced weird lockups, video corruption, corruption on my SATA raid, mysterious SCSI failures during boot, refusal to boot.... I've RMA'd the mobo, replaced the video cards, swapped the PS - no joy. Eventually this card was the only piece of original hardware left. The system locked up and refused to boot, generating tons of SCSI failures. I yanked the Adaptec, stuck in a 6 year old LSI PCI card, and BINGO! NO ERRORS, no problems, no lockups.

Overall Review: This card is garbage. It's a waste of money; worse, it will cause you days of downtime while you jack around with every other piece of hardware in your system. Avoid it like the plague. It's a shame; I still use an old Adaptec 2940 UW card and it's rock solid. Total failure on Adaptec's R&D.
