Very Happy with this laptop

ASUS N70 Series 17.3" Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 4GB Memory Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit N70SV-X1
ASUS N70 Series 17.3" Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 4GB Memory Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit N70SV-X1

Pros: The screen is very nice. This laptop is really really fast. I moved from a Quad Core Desktop to this Dual Core Laptop, and it performs spledidly. The Facial Recognition is AWESOME!!! The keyboard was a nice touch to it, and I enjoy having a full size number pad. The video is plenty fast for gaming, or even some 2D Cad and 3D modeling work. Watching Blue Ray movies is great. (Real 16:9 Display.) Wireless N .. I get 240 meg links in the farthest room from my N Router/AP. Can run two additional Monitors (one VGA and One HDMI). I really enjoy that. The included case not only hold this laptops large size, it also has room to store extra items in it as well.

Cons: The finish smudges easy. No Firewire built in, and it's not a 640 gb hard drive (as mentioned in previous reviews) it's two 320, and those are split into 2, so you have 4 partitions. (When Win 7 Comes out I'll fix that.). No Raid Capability. The Nvida Turbo Cache is not tweakable in Vista, so you lose a gig of memory from that. The sound did not work out of the box, had to change the drivers. The trackpad jumps sometimes. I wish it had two seperate buttons for the mouse as opposed to one big button that presses on each side. The battery lasts less than two hours, and I can't find where to buy a second batter as an add-on.

Overall Review: Overall very happy. The con's do not take away from the positives in my mind. I couldn't build a laptop from Dell, HP, or other vendors and get all of the features and functionality I did with this ASUS.

Most Critical Review

I would not purchase from "Valuetech" if I were you.

Dell OptiPlex 7010 MT/Core i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz Quad/4GB DDR3/500GB HDD/DVD-RW/No OS
Dell OptiPlex 7010 MT/Core i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz Quad/4GB DDR3/500GB HDD/DVD-RW/No OS

Pros: One out of 4 systems actually worked and wasn't defective from "ValueTech". They did process an advanced exchange for one of the defective machines. Sadly, that machine was also defective.

Cons: I purchased three of these units. 1 was fine. The second one, the case was bent do badly you could not install any expansion cards in any of the slots. It took me quite a while to carefully bend things back into shape so that it was useable. The third one was completey defective. Blink codes pointed to a bad CPU or Motherboard. Clearly no one looked over these before they were shipped. It took multiple emails before they responded. As I said in the "pro" section, they did process an advanced exchange once they finally responded. Sadly that 4th system was defective as well. It was again bent so far out of true that the expansion slots were unusable. I slowly an meticulously bent it back into shape (the case) and when I got a chance to test, the top expansion slot was broken. Not only that the CMOS battery was completely dead. I swapped it with the completely dead ssytem. I'm not even going to bother exchanging this other defective unit. I'm sending the completely dead unit back and will wash my hands of this seller.

Overall Review: I would not recommend you purchase anything from this seller (ValueTech). I wish I would have read more reviews before I pulled the trigger on these. They (Valuetech) clearly do not test these system, or even look them over before sending them out the door. They are slow to respond, not even acknowledging emails until you've sent several. 25% without defects is a horrendously low number. I don't expect this level of defects even for used or refurb equipment .

Nice LIttle Router

CISCO 850 Series CISCO851-K9 Integrated Services Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports
CISCO 850 Series CISCO851-K9 Integrated Services Router 1 x 10/100Mbps WAN Ports 4 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports

Pros: Quick Setup, Lot's of Options (Firewall, Advance Nat, VPN Server or Remote plus point to point). GRE passthrough. And it keeps up with High Throughput on consumber broadband lines as well. (15 / 15 fios and never dropped packet).

Cons: If you just want to "Buy a cheap router" this is NOT for you. You actually need to KNOW Cisco Technology to install it, and better yet, you need to UNDERSTAND Cisco to install it. This is no Linksys or Dlink. It's a cut down version of more powerful enterprise equipment runnig Cisco IOS.

Overall Review: It's funny to read the reviews from people talking about tough setup. YEAH.. if you know nothing abotu Cisco it will be. If you're used to consume grade routers.. YEAH.. it will be. If you understand networking technology you won't have any issues. If you're a casual user, hire the install and upgrades out.

Don't Do It - You'll Regret It.

COOLER MASTER RR-CCX-W9U1-GP 90mm Sleeve CPU Cooler
COOLER MASTER RR-CCX-W9U1-GP 90mm Sleeve CPU Cooler

Pros: It Looks Neat.

Cons: Everything Else. My Stock AMD cooler does a better job of cooling my stock clocked AMD X2 5200+. My Temps went up about 10 Degree's C with this chunk of worthless metal. Not to mention the freezes and shutdowns I never had with the stock fan. STAY AWAY. My IDLE Temp is up to 52-55 C, and I can't get it under load because it freezes or shuts down. And Yes, I used the correct amount of thermal goo. I even tried more and less just to try it, with three different compounds. It came back to the Cooler being a Hunk of Junk,

Overall Review: I used Artic Silver 5, Cooler Master Thermal Goo, And even some Radio Shack goo just to try something, and it still didn't cool very well. I put Artic Silver with my stock AMD cooler .. and it's right where I want it.. Idle at 35-39c and under load I don't breach 50.

Defective Equipment in Poor shape.

No, I would suggest you stay away from this seller. I wish I would have read more seller reviews on them and heeded their words. Overall I would say I am not at all happy with the quality of merchandise they sent. They are slow to respond to inquiries. It took a couple of tried before they responded. Out of 4 systems, only 1 of them did not have issues. Of the original 3, 1 worked, 1 was DOA, and 1 had a case bent so far out of true that it was not possible to use any expansion cards. After several emails, they did arrange an advanced exchange on the DOA machine. That machine arrived completely bent out of true and once I got it back to usable (so I could plug in cards), the top PCI-express slot was defective. No card could be recognized in that slot at all, not even in BIOS. A 75% defective rate is horrendous. Clearly they do not look over or test these machines to see if they are in good shape, or if they even work properly. I'm keeping the last defective machine as I don't want to go through the hassle of exchanging yet another system as it will likely have defects as well. I'm a very dissatisfied customer.

Interesting Packing Job (Shipped in Trash by all appearances).

I've never received a package that was literally packed in trash. It was all scraps of cardboard boxes, scraps of paper, scraps of bubble wrap, scraps of other hue boxes, and other misc. detritus. It looked like they just tore apart whatever was close by and threw it in the box. Both products were identical Refurbs, and had security tape on them; however, both security tapes were no longer intact. They had been both been broken at some point. Also, the listing didn't say, but I should have asked - they were all the original release Hue bulbs(LCT001), not anything modern(LCT007). As such, they suffer from very very slow response times. Even using the debug console to set the bulbs and hub to turn on and change with 0 millisecond delay, it is a good solid 2 or more seconds for these to power on, or change. I have 20 of the newer bulbs and they all respond instantly. That they are old is not the seller's fault. I should have asked, though it would have been nice had they listed that. The rating I've given is for the shipping condition and the open boxes with the Refurb tape cut (it had nice clean edged. There's no way it was accidental). On the good side - The shipping was fast.
