Cons: Like others, this ram died on me. At stock voltage and settings, the stuff fails immediately. Even when running at only 2.5V with 2.5-4-4-12 timings, this stuff failed eventually. By the way, spd voltage is actually 2.65V, not 2.8V and the chips are from elpaida. I think the heatspreaders actually worsens cooling rather than helps it.
Horrible bass. Missing low range.
Pros: Low price.
Cons: Subwoofer is weak. Satellites missing low range and subwoofer can not get that high. Analog only.
Overall Review: I got this for a song during a philips sales but I have since given these speakers away for free becuase they suck so bad. I replaced a 2.1 altec lansing setup with these and I was sorely disappointed. I could tell right away that there was a significant range of low midrange sound that was just gone from my game soundtracks. I raised my extigy's subwoofer crossover point as high as it would go to no avail. A small subwoofer like this should be responsive up higher than larger subwoofers but this was not the case. Also, the subwoofer is extremely weak. Do not believe the power ratings which are just lies. Buy something else.
7200.8's are faulty
Overall Review: I had read that the 7200.8 series was flawed and I saw that the 7200.8 was rated extremely poorly over at storage review. Sure enough, mine died after about 1 year. I think mine lasted as long as it did because I have mine in a cooled removeable rack. Perhaps Seagate has fixed the 7200.8 since then but be forewarned. The problem is supposedly an overheating spindle controller.
Loud, fan failure
Pros: Affordable. High build quality. Keeps drives very cool.
Cons: Very loud. My unit's fan failed after only a few months.
Overall Review: A lot of people are complaining about the build quality of the device but I think that that is the strong point of this device. I've had several different model drive racks before and I think this unit is pretty good in terms of build quality. The problem is that the device is loud, and the quality of the fans is suspect. I had the fan on one of mine go out in only a few months. Also, the ez-swap2 could be greatly improved if some simple design changes were made like ensuring that the fan was not occluded and putting more clearance under the drive. Rack manufacturers never seem to realize that most of the heat from a drive is dissapated through the bottom of the drive which is where the motor is.
