MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Used for a multipurpose Media Hometheater for 46" Panasonic Viera Plasma TV. Install was straightforward-picked up the AMD PhenomII 565BE, Crucial Tracer 1333, EVGA 460 GTX OC and Win7 was also automatic. Overall a simple, quiet, very fast machine, with a few estras; such as iMon controller, Avetec Tuner and extra USBs. In addition, online, there is a nice AUTO BIOS upgrade and numerous useful MSI software, called live Update - including an operating system called Winfrey, etc And, end product is an perfect home therater, that also serves as an eventing PC, with Office 2010, camera/microphone and Kinect. Unlocked the 565 to a B65, without a problem but, then the OC Genie took the core speed from 3.4MHz to 2.8, in unlocking the 2 extra cores and L3 cache. Hmmm?! Intension was to upgrade the PhenomII to a 32nm 8-core Zambezi, when the inital price halves.

Cons: However, what follwed, explains most/all of the complaints that this otherwise great board, has attracted. (Unless its only plants from the MSI competition(!?), or just perpetually unhappy, technical incompetants). The behavior explained in SOME of the other reviews came up, when we started to play with the overclocking(Doesn't overclocking invalidate the warrenty?),...and the OC Genie (auto-overclocking), the videowould lock up, then "black screen" until the BIOS was reset. and then take up to 15 starts or one shorting of the CMOS reset, or drashically, removal of the MB battery. Happy ending though, and that was that IF you take (Manually), the FBS down to 200MHz. and then use the unlocked multiplier to take the CPU speed back up to 4.1MHz, then you can overclock the memory UP to 1600MHz and the Video up to the Max limits, and then,..this is one of the most (as the name on the screen says everytime you start your HTPC) - the Highest Quality and Most Stabile Motherboard, we have owned

Overall Review: In the end, as fast in games and renders a better static and dynamic screen image than our dated gaming machine - which is Intel i7 1366 970, 12GB 2000MHz Reaper with SLI (2)560 Ti OCs & EVGA 450GT for PhysX,....why?! But, it does, and a lot cooler. Bravo, but maybe not for OC'ers without a little patience and determination.

Necessary Rant - Another Gygabyte rebate Ripoff!! X2! on this same board! 100% ripoff! no rebates paid! 0% honored!!

GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 760G USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 760G USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: These motherboards are normally combo incentives, first for us, a AMD 8370E, and now for an AMD8320E. After we detailed our experience with a little corporate ethics advise, for pepper, we received a weak response from the Gygabyte rep who has to mitigate the damage from their Rebate practices, and said call me. However, for $10, we prefer to let every potential kid who might buy their products know, that IF they accept as part of their decision to buy, a promise to pay from Gigabyte, then they should just consider it GONE! and the pain in the stomach area that goes with being cheated, as a no charge extra bonus!

Cons: This is the second time, in two GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3's this has happened, so their record is 100% cheating kids, and other slightly less defenseless buyers, out of their money, and none of honoring promises, they have made to their consumers. New Corporate Advice - Lose the rebates! Sorry, those are the numbers, and actually they are my favorite Motherboard manufacturer on value, if not on total quality, and also the best instance of Customer Service with a repair problem under warranty was with Gigabyte, probably a different Vice President, who studied under State Farm policies. SO, I wish there were someway to be kind with Customer Service department, while bringing this absolute criminal activity to everyone's attention, but it must be dealt with separately. In this case, 10 minutes ago, after waiting for three weeks to be told again, and this time carefully following every rule, because the second time shame on us. we sent them the cutting from the box (which destroys resale) and also eliminates the serial number from the box, so you don't have two copies in case one falls off or gets wet from Cool-It water cooling units leaking, in a 140F, high air flow environment. So, we sent them everything, 20 days ahead of the deadline, and same result. however this time they wrote back another pasted standard denial: Original Model Name & Serial Number Label cut from Retail Box. I know that we cut up our box and sent it to them, staples and taped into the little box, on the form, and this is the return!! ERGO-we conclude - CROOKS. There is no other explanation, because,we are not upset, and exaggerating, (mostly since this is not our first rebate-rodeo) Mostly, because, we KNOW their ways, from the first time this occurred, and SO have done every little detail they asked, and they as Corporate policy, have denied the legally binding "public offer" that they made to sell this merchandise, of course putting into place 5 what are called in the MBA School books (mostly between the lines), but more and more openly as people they think are becoming more desensitized to blatant CORPORATE behaviors, IMPEDIMENTS TO ACTION WHICH CREATE SEGMENTED DEMAND AFTER POINT OF SALE -where corporate criminal culture is required if you want to make $1M+, as a department level head, in any service provider or consumer products company.Well, wrong is wrong, sorry again, I wish there were better things to say, however, these class-less practices overshadow every technical, customer service or advantage that any product or service could possess! And, let's see, to do the math, let's see if you were to cheat every 5th person living in the US, let's just say for round numbers, out of $15 every two years, and Gigabyte has 1/5th of the motherboard market, then you have 20,000,000 X $15 = $300,000,000-Now makes perfect economic sense, where only 0.01% of white collar criminals are punished. Hmmm-Conclusion, buy nothing EVER with a rebate, ...and enjoy the rest of your day. QED

Overall Review: Also positive - Thank you Newegg, we and many more rely on this information,to make informed electronics consumer choices, so Bravo! to that Service,...where frankly, I wrote a scathing review for the first case and time this happened with the same board-where it was not honored since it was purchased at Black Friday, and then Gigabyte or the vulture culture firms that they hire to milk, their customers, after the sale, put a 10 day limit, however, it was timed so that with the Sundays, you really only had 5 days. Who would have THUNK they would do that, however, deception is money and we dropped off on the Saturday, Gee we work!! sorry-but they did not honor their promise to pay, if we just followed their seemingly-petty, 5 requirements??! Why, well again in the text books, it is called 'Impediments to Action", and the idea is that if you make it inconvenient, complicated, or just a seemingly waste of good time, then up to 92% of people you promised a $10 to $20 Rebate to, will just go away. Apparently, Gigabyte's contract rebate servicing contract firm's new VP, has determined that if you just lie, then the other 8%, also go away. The first case, as I said is UN-ethical, the second case is criminal.

Solid Card, Great Screen image - with a "real" 3-year warrenty

PowerColor Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card AX6870 1GBD5-2DH
PowerColor Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card AX6870 1GBD5-2DH

Pros: Rec'd this card as an RMA from Powercolor frankly, as I had purchased in the day, a Powercolor AX5770 Evolution, and btw, what makes it an Evolution, is that it had the onboard HydralogiX chipset, which was great, in that it would allow, the evil-Nvidia (and overall, we luv:-)<3, Nvidia), however, their Driver override, for no-no-no PhysX, when sensing an AMD product is Evil!),..so, short story, we had that card for like 2+ years of "good use" in tandem with an EVGA 460GTX (also "great" card, though EVGA's poke you-in-the-eye and make fun of your Mom-"non-customer service" is not so hot),...(or sometimes HD5850 and ohh-la-la!, that is a HOT-FUN, combo, and no complaints, but due to Powercolor's insane 3 years warranty, it was RMA'd via Powercolor, for an upgrade, due to scarcity of the unique Evolution card,...so, thank you Powercolor

Cons: What emerges from the below comments, both the intial glowingly good, and then the change at a few months ago, to virtually all bad, is either not so clever/subtle negative comments "plants" from the AMD/Powercolor competition, OR perhaps, is based in our experience, with Overclocking this card, for grins and giggles, and also maxing out benchmark scores on raining afternoons. First, the card can be overclocked using either OVerdrive or Catalyst COntrol Center, until it will glow cherry red, and probably catch fire, but we stopped at "cherry red",...or even, after one experience, after the initial development of the normal progression of AMD video artifacts and screen glitches, etc. that predictably develop when pushing AMD products, too far. Remember - NOTE those core and video clock's Ghz number in OD/CCC, and in the future - don't exceed!

Overall Review: So, in short, this is an amazing card in terms of pure color rendition on screen, even our Nvidia 670 GTX cannot come close, and it costs twice the price, also in terms of the true playability measures, that never enter such marketing propaganda as the various benchmarks and game FPS comparisons that are all launched in the time a particular card is "on the shelf" via internet,...this one has smooth deep color, smooth screen rendition, and "keeps up" with any tessellation, screen explosions and story points, perfectly, every time and in every game, period. HOWEVER< for those with a "full throttle or/and die" approach to Overclocking video, once they are shown how,...this is not the card, for you, since it has no safety limit. So, either go up to the edge with a light hand, or don't go near "the edge at all" - Enjoy!

Zotac 570 GTX 1280MB - Wow!?

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card ZT-50203-10M
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card ZT-50203-10M

Pros: Very impressive perfrmance and pleasant suprise from a gaming fluidity, hard-"velvet", "total visual-rendering onscreen" perspecitve. Bought this card for my 1366 i7 930 Offfice machine, the same week that the 670GTX series came out,...So, we apid the nice price, with Assasin's Creed-Brthrhd,..however, noticed from Tom's Charts, that the 570's, are by design 9% slower (un-OC'd), in most apps/games/BMs at 1080p,...but, in the large matrices caculations, or basically what 4000i TVs+3D will require,... they are 4X faster than the 670s! has to do with the way Nvidia "went AMD" by tripling the number of Shaders hardware, instead of "HOT Clocking" less shaders, and the same reasonss as to WHY a 2X/3X-SLI, is slower on frames/sec than the sum of the parts,...also, big PRO for me, is that this card, unlike the tri-Fire'd 5850's in the game room,..has what Nvidia adverts as, "True and Deep Colors technology", so with the right HDTV compatability on a 46"Panasonic Viera---Kate Upton, or for that matter, "Mr. Spock",...never lookd so good!

Cons: Not a big "Con"--but, here it is,...previously, this machine (in a Velocity Micro - SLI case) had Two XF-ired 5850's, so when we went to the single, 570, we stuck an old 450GTS into the second PCI-e slot,...and the temps would take the fan, like under FM 3DMark 11 type-loads, to the point where the fan speed would drift slightly above the minimun speed at 40% of max, and then you could hear the fan running,...so, we ordered a 16X PCI-e extension cable from China, via AliExpress for $3, and then moved the 450 GTS, one slot up, so that it did not partially block the 570 intake,..and Presto! no fan speeds above 40%, therfor no fan noise while gaming, etc.,...problem solved.

Overall Review: Good card,...and also, love(apprciate) Nvidia, partly b/c met the Technical Marketing Director, Tom Petersen, and had a nice detailed/insightful chat at Quakecon-Dallas, one year,...and have a small understanding, aar, for what they are doing, and how the "market" realities dictates what they produce on any given day,...so, other than a signfigantly lower heat output with the 32nm lithography, the 570GTX, remains a great card, (and VALUE) at least for the next 5 years?!
