Still holding up just fine!

Rosewill RH-189 3.5mm Connector Canal Earphone
Rosewill RH-189 3.5mm Connector Canal Earphone

Pros: Update on my previous review from over a year ago... they are still just as good as when I first bought them. Well built!

Cons: One thing I have come to notice is the thin little plug is a little slippery and sometimes hard to unplug (especially if the jack is recessed). No big deal though.

Most Critical Review

Bad support

ASUS M4A78LT-M LE AM3 AMD 780L Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M4A78LT-M LE AM3 AMD 780L Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Decent specs for the price. Worked great for the first few months.

Cons: Out of the blue the PC started to BSOD. Then it wouldn't POST after reboot half the time, it would just be a black screen, or on occasion a gray screen. Once it was even blue. Swapped memory, power supplies, removed addon cards, you name it, nothing fixed it. Had video corruption on occasion as well, makes me suspect the onboard video memory is shot. So I sent it in to Asus for warranty repair/replacement. Asus never emailed me when they received the board, whether they even looked at it, and gave me no shipping notification or tracking number when they shipped it back. And they just simply shipped back the exact same board without even fixing it because it is still as broken as ever. Thanks for nothing Asus!

Overall Review: If the board was bad but Asus actually repaired or replaced the board, then that would have been OK. I understand that things are defective every so often. But to essentially blow me off and do nothing to correct the problem is NOT OK. I'm buying another brand board to replace this board with as I'm sick of this and I just need the PC to work! At the same time, I'm not letting Asus off the hook so easily. They are going to be getting a rather irate phone call.

MSI 970A-G46 AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
MSI 970A-G46 AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 + SB950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Fairly inexpensive, and for what it is designed for, works well. A billion USB 2.0 ports, has USB 3, fairly decent layout. SATA ports behind the first PCIe slot are right angle so as to not interfere with the card.

Cons: Two of the SATA ports that are behind the second PCIe slot are not right angle, so they might get in the way depending on your setup. Weird design choice there. No USB 3 header for front USB 3 ports.

Overall Review: If you buy this board expecting super amazing overclocks you're barking up the wrong tree. For what this board is designed for it does the job, and does it well. It's been stable and offers a good range of capabilities. People docking 2 or 3 stars over no front USB 3 header or onboard video need to pay attention to what they are getting. Personally I'd much rather have the USB than onboard video on a full ATX board. I suspect that most people buying an ATX board are planning on a dedicated, higher performance video card.

Did not work :/

Koutech IO-RCM621 All-in-one USB 2.0 3.5" USB 2.0 Front Panel Multi-format Card Reader with USB 2.0 Port
Koutech IO-RCM621 All-in-one USB 2.0 3.5" USB 2.0 Front Panel Multi-format Card Reader with USB 2.0 Port

Pros: Well, I thought the manufacturer... past ones from Koutech have been good (box labeled IO Flex). Like the past model, has properly spaced screw holes and it lines up with the front of the case (an issue with many others I've tried).

Cons: This one's box just said "SOHOUSB" in the upper left corner in a plain Arial font. And it doesn't work :( It shows up but device manager showed the drive for the memory stick as having a problem. But it also would not work for the SD slot either. Guess I'll have to RMA this one.

Overall Review: Have bought several of the past model and all have worked great. First one of these and it's junk. Sigh. We'll see if the replacement is any good.

Poorly built and did not work

SABRENT EC-BIDE Black IDE USB 2.0 CD/DVD-RW Slim Notebook Drive Enclosure
SABRENT EC-BIDE Black IDE USB 2.0 CD/DVD-RW Slim Notebook Drive Enclosure

Pros: Small, USB powered, rubberized outer housing won't slide or scratch

Cons: Tried 3 different drives, none worked with it. Kept getting "USB device malfunction" error. The circuit board was put together crooked and didn't fit inside the housing properly. Pity, because it would have been a useful device.

Overall Review: Newegg rocks, as usual, and took care of it. Thanks Newegg!

Generally good case

Cooler Master ELITE 335 RC-335-KKN1-GP Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Cooler Master ELITE 335 RC-335-KKN1-GP Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Pretty solid. Good airflow. Looks decent too. Plenty of room for hard drives. Tool-less stuff removable so you can use screws if desired (I did). Power LED wires are separate so it can be used on a 2 pin or 3 pin connection.

Cons: Right side panel vibrated against the mobo tray. The tool-less stuff honestly isn't too great, it was too loose so stuff would rattle and the drives weren't real tight. Replaced with screws and trashed the tool-less junk. Reset button is tiny and at first glance you don't realize it is there (it is the HD light). I guess this could be a good thing (can't get bumped) or a bad thing (Trying to find a pen to push it in).

Overall Review: Good deal overall.
