Pros: metal case, quiet fan easy hard drive install, great form factor
Cons: Unit does not always connect in Windows 8.1 and when it does a drive will not populate, this is random. When the unit chooses to connect that's a good day, other times it seems like there isn't enough power going to the unit. So you have to turn on/off the unit to get it to work. its a shame I like the build on this unit if only it worked well. Shipping also was painfully slow, not worth my time to RMA as it will take a month or more for turn around. Ill just cut my losses and NEVER purchase an orico product again.
Overall Review: If orico can fix their internal power issues, update their website to be more customer support friendly and fix their slow shipping I might consider purchasing froom them again.
Cons: Unit freezes, killed a WD RED drive, RMA to Synology received a replacement same issue. This is a 400 paper weight, very sad I am a long time Synology owner and have a DS213 that is running like a champ!
Overall Review: I'll stay a Synology fan but won't be buying another DS414 these units have horrible reviews. I'll wait for the next 4 bay to come out and read all the reviews before purchasing.
ICY DOCK GOT IT RIGHT!
Pros: Easy to setup! 1.add drives, 2. connect via USB, 3. turn on! its that simple. My drives were already formatted from another enclosure (ORICO) (Died after 48 hours) I love the drive bays they have a lever on them so you can easily remove them! The USB cord and power cord are actually long enough for a normal desk! 4x3TB WD Green drives.
Cons: No power button on the front! I hope ICY Dock changes this on their next version. COLOR: all I could purchase this unit in was white, I prefer black.
Overall Review: This is my third enclosure I have had that supports 4 HD. The first and second both quit on me ICY dock has not had any issues that the other two had.
Pros: Compact Storage Easy Setup Satisfied Customer
Cons: Esata Multiplexing doesnt work on my laptop, not the products fault
Overall Review: Works well with USB 3.0 and is easy to set up. i have now consolidated what used to be four external HDD in one unit and have freed up 3 USB spots. This was a great deal for what I paid. I have had no power issues as some have.
Pros: Cheap price per GB for a NAS, plugged it into the network and it was immediatly found. Software if you choose to use it is very user friendly. NAS is smaller than I thought it would be, it fits nicely on my shelf. I love the indicator light on the front it lets me know how much space is available visualy. I like the fact I can actually change out the drives without voiding warranty, this is not the case with many of the pre maid NAS drives. The drive also is remarkably cool.
Cons: USB port is only intended for adding additional storage it would have been nice to use it for USB to PC back up as well. NOT truly a CON but in order for my PS3 and XBOX 360 to see my files in the shared folders I had to go into twonky and set the folders to ALL. The only reason this is a CON is because it was not mentioned anywhere on the web site or the instructions.
Overall Review: I had to purchase this drive from another online seller. New egg wont ship the item to an APO address. Which makes me wonder after all of the items I purchase from Newegg that they ship to my APO address.
