Pros: still runs and fast
Cons: no cons
Pros: Some of the AS Rock boards listed in complaints were not on the QVL list. If you do not match parts you do so at your own risk. Stop blaming the companies for lack of research. The maximus V formula is on the list. I have personally tested it with bios version 8.04 on XMP setting 1.
Overall Review: The Gskill memory QVL for motherboards is posted on their website by using the memory configurator. it is free.
Pros: Quad Sli card spacing for 2 cards. Like the PCI Express slots for extra cards. This is why I didn't get the Extreme. You will need to create a raid driver disk on flashdrive same as my X58. Much faster raid than marvel sat II. Have my SSD as steam drive and origin games. see you online.
Cons: none so far. Recommend that if you are using air cooling 3rd party to buy low profile ram like I did. My CMV6GT fitted perfect but covers the 1st ram slot. But the ARES ram clears the cooler. Running between 35C idle and 45C load.
Overall Review: Bios is easy but the XMP glitched at first. Will update bios later. The menu says supreme FX but it is a realtek sound chip so if you have a dedicated sound card don't ditch just yet. My FPS is 15 fps higher than my I7950 at 1080P with 2 580 ultras. But the lag is gone so my kill count is substantially better. My X58 sabertooth was great for apps but not for gaming.
Pros: Have an X58 Sabertooth on board that locked up bf3 w/o my g35 headphones connected. This solves that and the sound is amazing. I hear things now I never heard before. Just make sure you have a pci express slot open if you have sli cards installed. My board does.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: bought at the egg on sale no regrets saving 49 bucks. see you on bf3 my gamertag below
Pros: I was getting lag in BF3 and sometimes getting disconnected fromt he server. I left my on board NIC on and installed this and win7 detected it immediately. Moved the cat5E to my new NIC and voila it was like a whole different world. I have nearly zero lag and now my opponents are the ones dying from lag.
Cons: If you don't have PCI express you are up the creek but that is not Intel's fault. It is the boardmaker's.
Overall Review: Web pages work faster and quickbooks also picked up steam. My Sabertooth X58 realtek NIC is cheap so you get what you pay for. Best $22 bucks I ever spent.
Pros: Bought based on previous reviews from you tube from gamers who swear by them for BF3. Load times were 13 seconds from 37 seconds on a HDD. Saw this sale and could not resist. Will keep my OS on HDD and gaming files separate on SSD to reduce load times.
Cons: will review again later if any issues
Overall Review: Using I7950 with dual 580 ultras, raid 1 1TB for storage, 1 caviar black 1TB for OS, gaming drive is also caviar black 1tb, backup drive seagate 2tb. 24 gb gskill ram, win 7 pro 64. HAF X case and 1100 watt coolermaster PSU. Using mercstealth keyboard, and G9X mouse.
Pros: Using with ps2 compaq kvm and a dl360g7 server in a rack. Flawless and zero issues
Overall Review: If you have an old rack kvm like we do this is the way to go. My newer servers have only usb ports and no ps2 ports
Pros: Bought this and have zero regrets. Just add drives and a reseller option kit for server 2008r2. I have 3 300gb drive sin ours and using for terminal server 2008r2 rdp services with Citrix xenapp.
Overall Review: dual psus and a flash back write cache is awesome. Also redundant fans.
Pros: I have 5 of these in our dl370g6 and 3 in our 360g7. flawless and fast in raid 5 with zero issues. Great price for sas scsi drives
Cons: size for some as it is 300gb
Overall Review: Make sure you have battery backed cache for expansion or raid caching. I expanded our dl370g6 after the initial 3 drive array up to 5 with zero issues and now have 1.1TB.
Pros: I work on computers for a living. This is great for dual screen monitors and in our case a HD video card for the wife playing internet videos and clips. Quiet and low power consumption.
Overall Review: not for gaming use a dedicated gamer card for that like a 580/680 card. Great for HTPC or desktop use for 2 screens.
Pros: The drive outperforms my sata 2 raptor. 2tb is perfect for a steam drive full of games or origin for bf3. Zero issues so far and great load times.
Cons: some bad reviews but I think that is mostly from shipping
Overall Review: great for setup as a large gaming drive if you are using your ssd as a boot drive. Using an I7950, 2 580 ultras, 24 gb ram, and a sabertooth board. My boot drive is a 1tb wd black. I only have steam and origin on this drive so I cannot measure video encoding performance
Pros: I own a computer company and bought this is warehouse our exchange 2010 and SQL files as well as FMSO roles. Rnning 24 gb ram with 5 300gb drives SFF. This server does not disappoint you will be sad if you passed this up.
Cons: Bought at HP for $3450. New Egg is lower priced. Bought 360G7 later in the same month here at the Egg. There are no other issues with this server.
Overall Review: If I had to do it again buy the 8gb ram sticks for up to 32gb for Server 2008R2 standard it is cheaper. Wish I had enough for a second one this year. Maybe later. Loaded OS and Exchange 2010 in less than 2 hours thanks to the dual CPUs.
Pros: Liked the first so well bought a 2nd for BF3 and Crysis 2 to max the graphics. I like the fan having 30% more cooling then the reference design. The ram is a bonus and on GTA 4 you can max the viewing distance. I would imagine the same onother games. Using an I7 950 24 gb ram, 2tb, x58 sabertooth.
Cons: 1st one was $619 but this one was $549 much more reasonable. 7970 is out but there will be bleeding pains with ati drivers I am sure. Doesn't help my flying in BF3!
Overall Review: Better than using a 590 since the cooling goes out the back and it is max overclock stock at 900mhz. You will need about 1000 watt psu with lots of amps. I have a cooler master with 82 amps on one rail. I also use a HAFX case and it fits perfect. I might get the classified 3 board later.
Pros: 2 gpus and a backplate most do not have the backplate. The ram is split at 1.5 each. It is not 2 570s. The streaming coung is 512 per gpu. Lifetime warranty. Fits in my HAF X case, the Ultra would make me remove the shroud. Will give me better FPS than my 480 in BF3 on ultra settings. I run at 1080P
Cons: Heat in a tight case. I love the HAF cases or a Antec 1200. Don't expect miracles in a small case with this card for heat. I own a HAFX and gave my 1200 to my daughter. My son has a 932 and all have hot cards which cool better in full tower cases.
Overall Review: If your 1st PCI isn't working after taking out a 295 then you damaged the slot by not hitting the removal tab first. Heat is not an issue also if you use NTools and providfe policies for the fan speed. I use an Asus x58 sabertooth with I7950, 24gb, 2TBWD, G35 headset, G9X
Pros: The board uses XMP settings for 1600 ram but being X58 it has be triple channel with an X58 CPU. I read 6 reviews all 1s where they used 1155 cpus and 2 channel ram. The only bug with the board is the bios and that was for SSD users on sata III. The new bios addresses this well. My board is 1 year old with zero issues. If I upgrade it will be to a Classified 3 atx extended for more card room.
Cons: 1366 is being replaced soon by Ivy Bridge but if you think 1155 is superior you are mistaken. The PCIE slots are times 8 after the first one on 1155 series. If you want to sli or crossfire 1366 rules period and has higher ram capacity for less money. You can buy 24gb for $178 on the egg. I do not recommend raid 1 or higher with the marvel chipset. Intel has a better software raid driver.
Overall Review: For a short time I had lockups playing BFBC2 and BF3 and found out that realtek sound chips and dice are not meant to be. In fact analog sound and dice are also not to be. So I use Logitech G35 headphones and have zero lockups since. Using a I7950, 12gb Gskill, Ar1485 GTX480, WD 2TB, WD 1TB raid 1 volume, and steel series merc stealth keyboard with G9 mouse, Coolermaster SP1000 PSU, HafX case.
Pros: Already have a full rig and will build another Sabertooth rig for my wife and give her my I7950. For this price you can't beat this. The sandy bridge is muted with the integrated graphics temp. Prefer cpus without gpu on chip. 1366 w/ triple channel great for SLI.
Cons: Used to be price but not now. Faster than AM3 965 which I had for over a year. My daughter has that.
Overall Review: Combine this with the Sabertooth and Gskill 12 gb for less than $200 and you get a nice setup for around $480 for core components. Add a HAF case and nice PSU and you are golden. I use the V6GT for my cooler and play for hours on BFBC2 with a GTX 480. Zero heat issues.
Pros: My next upgrade is a 6 core 1366 cpu and maybe a 2nd AR 1485 480 EVGA for sli. But for now my rig is near perfect. The 2nd fan is avail ont he coolermaster store for around $20 w/shipping. A technicians dream for a case. The only other worth talking is the Antec 1200.
Cons: People who say they can't find holes. Maybe you need to go to an A+ class. All the holes are there and use a V6GT or a V8 coller for the perfect match. I use the sata hot swap bays for a mirrored set and there are plenty of holes for air flow.
Overall Review: Using a GTX 480 with the fan shroud with no issues. Modern enough card and large enough to help most users on sizes. I use a ASUS Sabertooth board with an I7950 and 12 GB GSkill ram. The lower ram makes clearance no issue for the cooler.
Pros: Had this case with zero problems. Bought 2nd fan from the CM store for exact match. The screws must be done through an RMA form. Fits my GTX 480 with ease and I average 35 celcius with my card on 75% duirng games. Using Asus Sabertooth 1366 setup, V6GT cpu cooler.
Cons: Screws should be put in accesory bag for 2nd fan. Some issues with front board from other reviews are untrue. Shorting of system boards is due from your power company and having no UPS. Buy a UPS from New Egg. 45% of fails come from bad power areas.
Overall Review: The 200mm fans are 700 rpm for quietness hence the adding the 2nf fan on top. My preious case and Antec 1200 was OK but much louder. It did not have a 2nd fan option for the top. If you sue the three prong connectors you can control fan speed via system board.
Pros: The HAF X has been flawless and I plan to sell it to my customers along with the 932. The 2nd top fan is $11.99 plus SH at the CM store. Do not use the megaflow it is for other models like the 922. You will need to request 4 black long fine thread screws as well.
Cons: Many complain about the optional fans not included but not everyone has huge cards so to keep costs down they made them optional. Price sells and shipp in case you forgot about fuel costs is not free. I plan to bulk order mine for customers who have big cards like the GTX 480/580 etc.
Overall Review: New Egg shipped this in 3 days amazing. After having this and an Antec 1200 I have to go with this case as it has the 2 front swappable drive bays. It also has a slide tray for SSD drives. If you have only 1 large card the fan shroud is a better choice over the VGA card holder. You cannot install both. My GTX 480 runs 35 celcius at idle with room temp at 75 F. It doesn't get better than that.
Pros: I replaced my Antec 1200 with this due to new features not on my 1200. The 2 drive bays make for quick removal of a failed hard disk. The ability to have two 200mm top fans. You can also add fans to the card holder or the card air chute. Power switch cover.
Cons: A little bit much for the average or novice user. I recommend a Sears craftsman magnetic screwdriver. I have used them professionally for years. For a technician or hard core builder this case is a dream. As for the slates falling off in shipping that is UPS not Coolermaster's fault. I had zero damage on mine.
Overall Review: This matches perfect with my V6GT CPU cooler.
Pros: Cloned my small 320gb raptor sata II drive and this keeps up pretty fast. Not sure i need to spend more for the new raptor 640. Using an Asus Sabertooth marvel set to AHCI mode I7950. Use acronis to clone the drive and you won't need to reload at all.
Cons: Lots of bad reviews of drive errors made me skeptic. But I have never once had a WD fail ever. Most is due to shipping and bad handling by users in their CMOS on old boards.
Overall Review: My advice is an up to date system like mine with a sata 6gb port. Make sure it is on port 1 in the ASUS instructions manual. Timeout at 35 sec by default.
Pros: I have this paired with Asus Sabertooth X58, I7-950, 12GB GSkill 1600, Coolermaster V6GT, Antec CP850 PSU, WD Raptor 320. My card idles at 35-37 celcius. At load it barely breaks over 50 celcius. For $80 less than a 580 what is not too like. BFBC2 on steroids.
Cons: For those who want a super powerful card I highly recommend a HAF 932, 942 X or an Antec 1200 to match up with any high performance card. Especially in SLI.
Overall Review: I set up policies for raisning the fan in ntools to 75% if th temp goes over 50 celcius. On boot it is in auto for quietness. My case fans are louder than the fans the card. The high flow bracket and pcb backing make for a practical and attractive card. It is gorgeous to look at.
Pros: The pictures are a joke this is bigger than the V8. My son has the V8. I got this for the dual fans. Mounted on an Asus Sabertooth w/I7-950, GSkill 1600 combo deal ram. V6GT clears all of the ram slots for this board. I have 12 GB ram. Buy it if you have a full size case Antec 1200, HAF 932, HAF 942 X etc.
Cons: The brackets are testy but work. My Antec 1200 had a extra side fan but I had to remove it for this. This took almost 10 celcius off my idle temp and during game play it pretty much stays the same during BFBC2.
Overall Review: If you use a socket screw driver for your main 2 screw clamp it is so much easier. Use metric sockets. The molex is for the light for those who couldn't get their light to work. Remove the fans before install and this becomes wicked simple.
Pros: If you write hot your case is too small or has no high air flow. If it's too big same issue get a full size case. The HAF X, 932, Antec 1200 to name a few are good solutions. This is a reference card and the gtx 480 does well in many games bfbc2, gtaiv epflc, crysis, etc.
Cons: If you bought this when it first came out you knew it would go down as soon as the next model. If you are ntools challenged then the temp will also be hot. ntools works well and is free from NVidia.
Overall Review: I have a 726 clock speed card and it is idling right now in my Antec 1200 at 37 celcius, I7 950 with stock cooler. So I didn't need a giant cpu heatsink. The Asus Sabertooth and 1600 gskil is cheap along with the I7 950. Perfect time to buy hardware and dump your C2Q.
Pros: I got this on Black friday as an upgrade to my Samsung 22 inch which I gave to my wife. For those with mechanical ability the mount is super easy to install. Screen is drop dead gorgeous whn I play GTAIV and Crysis. My older sons are wanting one.
Cons: Have not figured out how to default the input straight to DVI. It always defaults to HDMI first.
Overall Review: The 64 bit app does not work well with windows (magic tune). The monitor driver is perfect from the website for Vista 64.
