Works as Designed

Pros: Easy set up
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: Always good to backup your content to external media that you control.
Power Button is Broken

Pros: Easy setup. Clear instructions (actual paper booklet with full instructions included). Video files created were fine (easy to upload to computer via USB drive).
Cons: The power button on the device did not work. It could power up but not power off. Ended up having to use a paperclip to trigger the reset in order to get the unit to power down.
Overall Review: It's a concern when the power button on a unit is broken out of the box, so frankly, I would not risk buying another one. I was attracted to this unit because it has its own display and that made it very portable. Instead, I'll use a dongle to send the VCR's video/audio output to a Blackmagic rendering card on my PC. Not portable, but it works.
Love These Things

Pros: It fits any wall socket and gets itself out of the way on the second plug, so you don't lose that one. Being able to wrap cords around the unit makes cord mess less likely Having the two USB plugs is super convenient.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I have three, so yes... I will probably buy it again.
Good Price, Challenging Interior

Pros: Needed to replace an aging Lenovo desktop. Choose this because it was a good price for the components and I generally like ASUS products. Its solid construction, very small form-factor and has legacy connectors for COM and Parallel Ports, which is great when you have aging peripherals that still use these. Plus, it shipped with Win7 Pro installed and a Win8 update disk, so it will support the upgrade when that's needed.
Cons: The one real con I found is how they've changed the cage for the hard drive(s). It ships with one sata drive and has the ability to take a second one. However, instead of using the standard sliding metal cage with screws, they have these plastic connectors that pop into the screw mounts to keep the drive stable. It took me about 20 minutes to line the drive up perfectly before those connectors would snap into place. Really frustrating and not at all an improvement.
Overall Review: This particular unit is a bit quirky (not loving the Chassis Intrusion Alert function that's turned on by default) and the native graphics aren't working very well. The mobo appears to only be able to serve video if the unit is on its side and I can't get it to see a resolution higher than 1920 x 1200, though its DisplayPort should max to 2560 x 1600. I ended up installing an old low-profile graphics card I had and that worked fine, so I have a support ticket open with ASUS to learn if the graphics issues I'm seeing means there is a defect with the planar. [It shipped with a P8Q77-M ... http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Q77M/#specifications.] If the graphics issue is a defective motherboard, then that's just unlucky and the review stays at 4. If what its doing is by design, I'll move it down to 3.5 eggs, as the location this unit goes in is better served when the unit isn't on its side. Final thought: If you're thinking of doing any upgrades, it is a small case and can only take low-profile cards.
Great Power Supply

Pros: Small form-factor, excellent cable management, neat cloth bag to keep unused cables.
Cons: They color-code the male-to-female plugs (blue-to-blue and black-to-black). A color other than black would have been nice, as its very hard to see what you are doing inside the case, once its fully rigged.
Overall Review: The system is very quiet (fans, etc.) and doesn't run as hot as I expected, given the amount of power it pulls.
Sweet Chassis

Pros: Solid aluminum frame, removable sleeve for the motherboard, excellent airflow.
Cons: The bay drive housing and locks are plastic. I love CoolerMaster, so my expectation are always very high. That said, I was disappointed to find flimsy plastic sliders and locks used on what should be a very high-end case.
Overall Review: This case is really (really) big and with the RAID array and other goodies, weighs in at more than 30 lbs. I put Waxman Self-Stick Super Sliders on the feet, so I could move it around easily. [This thing is bascially the size of a small bookshelf, so be sure you have the room for it!]
