SAS like speeds for SATA price

Pros: Excellent performance at low cost. I see sustained writes of over 335 MB/Sec when using software raid over three drives. You can't get this with any other eSATA solution currently. Much faster than USB3. The included card handles port multiplication on both ports and has decent hardware RAID capabilities.
Cons: You don't want to mix SATA 6 and SATA 3 drives. If you add one SATA 3, the performance of the whole system drops to SATA 3 levels. I benched it as 120 MB/sec in this case. The generally available driver for linux is outdated. For current kernel versions, you must compile it from an updated source. You'll need to google for RR64xl_Linux_Src_v1.3.5_13_09_27.tar.gz or contact them directly.
Rock Solid, But Slow

Pros: The SiI3132 chipset works with the Ubuntu 13.10 out of the box, and supports FIS eSata port replication well. Zero issue with reliability and Rosewill is a decent brand
Cons: Slow. Throughput maxes out at around 116 MB/Sec. regard less of drive configurations.
Overall Review: If you're running a linux server, this is a good choice. Well established and guaranteed to work without custom kernel modules. If I had it to do over again, I would go for a faster card.
Quality Refurbishment

Pros: The inside was dust-free and the fans appear to be new. Even the inside of the power supply appears as-new and dust free. Works and runs reliably.
Cons: Front was scratched somewhat beyond normal wear and tear in an office environment, but each one will be different
Overall Review: Outstanding Value
Not useful

Pros: Reasonable price for a GeForce PCI card
Cons: While this card works in text mode, attempting to run in graphical mode creates scrambled screens.
Overall Review: It would seem the refirb testing process only tested these cards to make sure they made it through POST
Poor Quality Control

Pros: This board has great specs and a great BIOS that self-update over the network.
Cons: I went though three of these boards before turning to an alternate manufacturer. The first worked for a while, then lost the ability to read the second bank of memory. The second was identical to the first. The third rebooted anytime you plugged in a USB device on the backplane. This suggests poor soldering or other shorting issues. This is too bad, as I really like the product. Newegg's support and RMA handling was stellar however.
Great Value

Pros: Nearly Silent, 0-Delay RAID Reconfig, Excellent Price
Cons: Mediocre performance with the RocketU 1022A USB 3 card
Overall Review: Available as a bundle with a RocketU 1022A USB 3 PIC-E card, you cannot beat this deal. Looks to be OEMd by the same maker as Vantec's unit (which gets good reviews), but this includes the RAID board that Vantec has not offered yet. On my MacBook Pro connected via USB 3, with 4 1TB WD Green drives, configured in 'Normal' mode (RAID turned off), Individual drives get 98 MB/s. Configured in RAID 0 mode it achieves 178 MB/s. ( Black Magic Disk Speed Test using exfat filesystem). This is fairly respectable, better than many mediasonic units though not as fast at LaCie's big 4. Connected to the bundled card in my i7 ubuntu 12.04, it achieves only 103 MB/s. (using dd and hdparm to test) I notice it connects as a Super Speed usb device, despite loading the UAS kernel module, so it's possible that the card does not support USB attached SCSI, as the Mac does. Attached via eSATA however, the throughput is only 36 MB/s, roughly the same as a USB 2 connection. My internal drives achieve 109 MB/s, so this seems strange, but I did not thoroughly test this out so your milage may vary on this part.
