ASUS VG Series VG23AH Black 23" 5ms HDMI Widescreen 3D LED Monitor 250 cd/m2 ASCR 80,000,000:1, IPS Panel, Height & Swivel Adjustable with Speaker and 3D Glasses

Pros: It works?

Cons: Where do I begin...having gotten this to take over primary monitor duties from a PA238Q (which is a great screen), I was prepared to be blown away again by ASUS' typical high-quality. I put it on my table after assembling the stand, and immediately notice the screen is super wobbly. It is also immensely difficult to turn the screen as it seems too heavy for the rotating base. I figured I can deal with these issues, and turned the screen on. Or attempted to, as the terrible button layout forced me to clumsily fumble around trying to figure even just how to turn it on. After getting my computer to recognize the screen, I am assaulted by urine-colored whites almost immediately. Next to my PA238Q, it looks disgusting. Colors look faded, and yellowish. I can see the grid matrix as well, as other users have said (when they talk about the "horizontal lines" being visible). The gaps between them are very distracting. Whenever I am reading anything I notice the faint black outline between the pixels in my peripheral vision. In fact the whole panel looks so bad I'm suspecting it's not even an IPS screen.

Overall Review: I completely understand why this monitor was going for such a "good" deal this Black Friday. Anyone who likes to see accurate colors should stay away. I imagine you might be able to calibrate this into something decent, but I am not willing to take the time. I may just buy an older PA238Q to bypass the chance of getting another dud like this.
