Overall Review: Before this, we used our own linux-based server followed by three Buffalo Linkstations. I bought a DS-1513+ about 18 months ago because of its large capacity and high transfer speeds (link aggregation). Our new DS414 is a backup for the DS-1513+. Setup is a breeze and the Synology DSM software is great. I recommend buying the best enterprise disks you can afford. We have been using WD SE WD4000F9YZ 4TB 7200 RPM and have not had a single problem in 18 months. Before, we were losing about two less expensive home computer drives a year. As a small business owner I need to be working with customers, not worrying about computer file storage and data integrity. The Synology products are a bit more expensive than some other NAS solutions, but worth every penny.
