Flight Simmer Well Pleased!

Pros: I'm not a tech, so don't rely on my word alone (listen to others that know what they are talking about). In my humble opinion, this card is AWSOME! My older gaming machine cratered, so I bought an off-the-shelf Gateway (GT5468), with only on-board graphics accelerator. Graphics were minimal but serviceable. I do a lot of on-line flying (FS2004) and became disgusted with 10-20fps. I decided on this GeForce PCIe card by PNY, hoping to fly normally again and save me from spending a couple grand replacing my old machine. Was I surprised? Card installed with no problem, fit tight but comfortably in my small tower. Vista handled drivers install, and five minutes from opening case to flicking the switch, I was flying again. With everything set ultra high and maximum global texture rendering and auto gen to maximum, I am now getting as high as 70fps (50-60fps consistently)! I highly recommend this card. Best bang for the buck!
Cons: None so far. Rendering like a champ!
Overall Review: I am running with stock 350w power supply that came with the machine. I have a 520w from my old machine, and I thought about sticking it in just to ease things a bit, but the new card doesn't seem to mind (I'm not a techie, so I may be underpowered after all). I might install the other power supply just in case, and if I can talk my wife into a second card for parallel setup, I will definitely bump up the juice. In addition, FSX is getting 15-25fps, and this is up from 5-8fps before card install. FSX is a resource hog, so be careful if you want to fly FSX with this card. You may need more than I’m able to address. FS2004 is about all I fly now. At least now, I can begin to use FSX, even if it isn’t perfect. I’m still tweaking FSX. PS: First time buyer on Newegg, and I'm already a loyal customer! Service was fast, streamlined and technical information complete.
