Solid PSU, Excellent Value

Sunbeam NUUO SUNNU450-US-BK 450 W ATX12V / EPS12V Modular Active PFC Power Supply
Sunbeam NUUO SUNNU450-US-BK 450 W ATX12V / EPS12V Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Amazing PSU. The 12 volt rail sits within the 1% margin, theres plenty of amps to power +3800 X2 @ 2.4ghz and OC'ed x1800xt. The modular system is very clean, and the box and packaging are excellent. I have this unit installed in a MicroFly uATX case (much like a qpack), and the black 3.5" fan controller matches the cases blue led perfectly. Not to mention its accurate and feels very sturdy. The knob has a nice smooth feel, and you can watch the display's RPM animation speed up as you give the fans more juice. The LED also shows the psu's temp - mine sits around 45-50c and rose to low 60's during my 12 hour burn-in test. The EMI shielding for your PCI and HDD are a huge plus, it keeps stray current away from your valuable parts - essential in a case where everything is bundled so close together.

Cons: I've heard these psu's fans are quite cheap, but I knew that when I bought this unit. So far, they put out decent air and are very quiet even when blasting at full rpms. All you hear is that delicate "ffffff" of moving air - no buzzing or humming like other psu's Ive worked with. No other cons thus far.

Overall Review: This psu was the buy of the year for me. Excellent choice with the instant savings; you get waaay more than you paid for. Rock solid unit, passed my excruciating burn in and delivered reliable voltages. We'll see how the fans hold up in a few months.

I'm not so sure anymore

Creative Inspire T5400 74 Watts 5.1 Speaker
Creative Inspire T5400 74 Watts 5.1 Speaker

Pros: -Very inexpensive for 5.1 -Nice metal stands, gave them a higher-quality feel -2-way speaker design adds solid highs to the mix -16' of rear speaker cable covers you adequately

Cons: The sub is already dying on me. I'm really upset that I'll have to RMA these; I spent most of the day saturday mounting the satellites, heh. The sub fades in and out, and muddies up the mix. Theres a green LED in the wired remote, and it keeps dimming and eventually goes off. I've tried numerous receptacles in my home, and the same thing occurs, so the power is there: its just the sub giving out on me.

Overall Review: I've done pro audio for local concerts for just about any type of music someone could like.AZ I work with expensive equipment, and I can say that these are very nice for the price. Again, I'm really bummed that I have to go through the whole RMA process. Creative has pretty good support, though.

Impressed, grateful

Pros: - Price, the GFX card alone costs almost as much as the entire system when purchased aftermarket - Presentation, the cables and wiring are as good or better than what I would have done, always a nice feeling - Performance, even with the new gen cards, this thing screams. It's almost overkill for my needs but the future-proof makes me feel like I made the right choice

Cons: - I wish I could have gotten it in black, the white doesn't match my desk decor

Overall Review: I've always wanted to have a top of the line set up and finding this build with the ideal GFX card and system specs was a total win for me. It's gotten to the point where it doesn't always make economic sense to buy the parts yourself and build it... When you have companies like ABS crushing it and sending out quality like this, why bother DIY? Grateful I gave this a shot. It's been solid, steady, cool, and worked great right out of the box!

Creative Fatal1ty Professional Series Gaming Headset MKII
Creative Fatal1ty Professional Series Gaming Headset MKII

Pros: Lightweight, VERY comfortable and somewhat stylish. I can play for hours without these irritating my head or ears. Have some noise cancelling qualities to them - they don't "blow your eardrums" when tapping on them, as other reviewers have claimed. The Mic is crystal clear, and being able to detach it is a plus. The overall quality is high - granted, its not Monster cable quality, but if you're not an audiophile you won't really care. I use an X-FI XtremeGamer with XP, so I can't comment on the silencer feature, but the accuracy of enemy locations in L4D and CS:S are spot-on. I can hear a Boomer half a map away and sometimes ace him through a wall (boy does ruffle their feathers, lol). Overall, these are a huge improvement over my old Plantronics (which just crapped out for no reason).

Cons: Not the greatest for music. I like to have some music on low while playing shooters, and I have to admit it borders on muddy-sounding at times. Explosions, dialogue, gunfire, ventrilo, and anything else 'game' related sounds great... MP3s not so much. Again, not something to subtract an Egg for. You're in the market for a gaming headset, right?

Overall Review: Short of slamming your headset down in frustration after a scrimmage, I don't see these just "falling apart" like other reviewers have mentioned. Treat your gear well and it will return the favor... That motto's worked for me; shoot, I'm still running a first-gen 939 AMD X2 (@2.8ghz)... The bad-boy just refuses to quit on me! Cheers.

Fits in TT Lanbox

MSI GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card NX8800GT 512M OC
MSI GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card NX8800GT 512M OC

Pros: Cooling. Idles around 46c in my thermaltake lanbox with a good 1.5" clearance between the drives. Low power consumption, has a max power consumption of 185w. Fan intelligently responds to temperature increases. Quiet!

Cons: Red. Cooler takes up two slots. It doesn't like custom fan profiles in Riva Tuner, not sure why, but they reset after a few hours. Not a big deal as noted above, the fan responds well to temps. No game. Bummer I guess, the game wasn't the sole reason I chose the card, but my roommate got a game with his card and I didn't, so he likes to joke that MSI likes him more than me haha.

Overall Review: Great value - MSI has honored all my past rebates quickly. Can't comment on their customer support, but I know it exists! If you're considering a powerful card for a small form-factor case, go with the 8800GT. Theres been some discussion about PCI-E 2.0's backward compatibility, I can attest to the Nforce4 - it works fine on PCI-E 1.0a - I have the old E V G A micro 939 SLI board. With this card, a 3800 X2 @ 2.4ghz and 2 gigs of crucial ballistix, I get an 8832 3dmark06 score. The card is probably bottlenecked by the platform, but its fine for now!

For those considering SLI...

XFX GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Support Graphics Card PVT84GUDF3
XFX GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Support Graphics Card PVT84GUDF3

Pros: I've owned this card for 3 months now and it hasn't given me a problem. Buttery smooth graphics on my 1440x900 Acer 19" wide. I removed cooler and added my own Arctic silver ceramique and I load at 60c - very fair for the geforce 8 series.

Cons: I was disappointed with the OC as my card capped off at 680/1050 w/ Nvidia tools. I figured I'd save a few bucks and just OC to the XXX levels - no luck. Also, XFX didn't honor my rebate! I got a little postcard in the mail saying I failed to submit the rebate on time, which honestly wasn't the case. I had the rebate out same day with over a week before the offer ended :\

Overall Review: For those of you pondering how a pair of 8600GTS's will do in SLI against the 8800GTS, theres a great article with graphs and 3dmark scores if you google "8600GTS SLI vs. 8800GTS". If I remember correctly, the 8800GTS 640mb beat two of these in SLI in every game, BUT the 8600's came pretty close most of the time. 3dmark06 scores for a pair of 8600's in SLI was roughly 9100, and the 8800GTS 640mb broke 10000. Theres a 50% 3dmark06 improvement when adding a second 8600, so if you already own an 8600 like me, just grab another! It'll suit you long enough. Cheers!
