Great cooling solution!

be quiet! DARK ROCK 5 Intel: 1851/ 1700 / 1200 / 1150 / 1151 / 1155 AMD: AM5 / AM4, Silent Wings 4 120mm PWM, Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooling BK035

Pros: This is a serious cooler! I don't overclock and it has no problems keeping my Ryzen 9 cool even when running CPU-intensive tasks like video editing. The cooler is well designed and installation was straightforward. All the needed hardware (including a screwdriver) is provided for either Intel or AMD CPUs. I followed the hints by others and installed the CPU and cooler on the motherboard outside the case. The instructions are thorough and easy to follow.

Cons: This isn't really a con, but be aware this is a large cooler! Make sure it will fit in your case. I have a standard width case and have no problem, but it will definitely not fit in a slim case.

Overall Review: This cooler does an excellent job and is priced right. I wanted to pay a little extra instead of buying a cheap cooler that might struggle to cool my CPU. Read the reviews and you'll see it gets high marks for cooling efficiency. I went with the single fan since tests showed that the dual fan made only a slight difference in cooling.

Sweet spot between performance and price.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - Zen 4 16-Core 4.5 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor (100-100000514WOF)
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - Zen 4 16-Core 4.5 GHz - Socket AM5 - 170W Desktop Processor (100-100000514WOF)

Pros: I originally planned to go with the Ryzen 9 9900, but when I went to order it was sold out. I then did more research and found that this CPU might be better suited for my use. It certainly is a huge step up from my old Ryzen. I do video, audio and photo editing and it easily keeps up with DaVinci Resolve. It also renders video much faster.

Overall Review: I'd definitely recommend this CPU as a productivity tool. I don't game so I can't speak to that performance.

Easy install and no problems so far

MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5 AMD X670E ATX Motherboard
MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5 AMD X670E ATX Motherboard

Pros: I researched the available MBs and this was highly rated. It had all the features I was looking for, including 4 M.2 SSD connectors. It also has the X670 chipset. The board is well laid out. It posted first try. I really like the BIOS screen, it's well laid out and makes it easy to make adjustments.

Cons: This isn't exactly a con, but something to keep in mind. It has 4 SATA connectors where my previous board had 6. That was an oversight on my part. I don't think most folks have as many drives as I do. I resolved the issue by buying an inexpensive external DVD drive and not using the internal drive and also by buying an external enclosure for one of my drives. Also consider your Windows installation options. I had an older Windows 10 USB stick. I was able to successfully install Windows, but it did not have the correct drivers for Ethernet. I should have put them on a memory stick before dismantling my old computer.

Overall Review: I'm well pleased with my choice and would recommend it to others. I installed 4TB of M.2, 64 gig of memory and I'm running a Ryzen 9 7950 CPU. I don't game buy I process photos and videos and this is a significant step up in performance.
