PWM Fan Replacement-Mod
Pros: Excellent heatsink. No sharp edges. Cools OC 2500K 20C better than stock. Fits in 7" wide case... barely!
Cons: The fan that comes with this cooler is not PWM 4pin and spins at full speed all the time. While not extremely loud, it's beyond my annoying threshold.
Overall Review: Replaced fan with Cooljag Everflow 90mm 92mm PWM Fan 4-pin 3450 RPM case fan, F129025BU... Nipped off all but about 1/4" of two rear supports and tie wrapped it to the original motor support holes - Real easy and works well. Temp at 100% ~2C warmer. This Fan was the largest, highest CFM PWM fan I could locate. Fan measures 80mm in diameter. Idles silently at 888 rpm.
No PWM - Fanmate-2???
Pros: Overclocked i5-2500K @ 4.1Ghz, 100% CPU, 50C
Cons: No PWM? FanMate2? Why not throw in a gas pedal? Fanmate2 by itself costs $8... PWM costs ???
Overall Review: I admit it's been 5 years since my last PC build. And I jumped at a "daily special" Zalman CPU cooler w/o inspecting the specs carefully. Variable speed? "Buy now". Whoops, 3 pin header! Whoops, what's FanMate? Whoops, it's on full speed all the time! WTFanMate? Given the performance, cpu runs 20C cooler over the stock Intel cooler, and the fact that Zalman.com specs the power consumption at 6W, I've decided to stick with it.
Compatible with Acer Aspire Revo R3610
Pros: Compatible and stable. Price competitive. Decently packaged. Newegg shipped promptly and arrived in 3 days (1K miles)
Overall Review: Acer Aspire Revo R3610 running W7 was starved at 2GB. With 4Gb, lots of headroom, and some performance improvements. But still struggling with Wifi-N, even after upgrading from Atheros to Intel.
Good Write Speed
Pros: writes 6.5Mb/s out of box, 7.85Mb/s after reformatting w/ FAT32; Philips DVD player reads it - unfort player appears to have file size limitations. Xlnt Shocker Deal.
Cons: Would prefer a sliding connector, rather than a cap; 7.45Gb formatted
Overall Review: Pleasantly small size, but not the smallest. Free shipping with DLS a little funky - sent the thing to a far off metro, then transferred to USPS, adding 3 days to delivery - But FREE so I'm not complaining!!
Pros: writes 7.85Mb/s out of box, 7.85Mb/s after reformatting w/ FAT32. Xlnt deal after rebate! Rubberized package is nice, I guess, but I haven't lost a flash drive yet to shock, so not sure it's necessary. Philips DVD player reads it - unfort player appears to have file size limitations.
Cons: Would prefer a sliding connector, rather than a cap; 15Gb formatted
Overall Review: Write speed is same as the Kingston Data Traveler 8Gb. Free shipping with DLS a little funky - sent the thing to a far off metro, then transferred to USPS, adding 2 days to delivery -- But FREE so I'm not complaining!!
