Most Favorable Review

It works

Nippon Labs SATA-0.5-MINI 1.6 FT. Mini SATA II Male to Male Ultra Thin Cable with Locking Latch, Red
Nippon Labs SATA-0.5-MINI 1.6 FT. Mini SATA II Male to Male Ultra Thin Cable with Locking Latch, Red

Pros: Used temporarily to clone a new HD for my daughter's HP PC Worked fine. Thin cable so would be a good choice for a crowded box.

Cons: None

Overall Review: At the price I paid, very satisfied.

Most Critical Review

Thought it was defective-

Rosewill RC-408X 10/100Mbps 8-Port Fast Ethernet Switch
Rosewill RC-408X 10/100Mbps 8-Port Fast Ethernet Switch

Pros: Cheap, limited number of flashing lights, replaced gigabit switch in an admittedly non-gigibit network with no decrease in performance

Cons: Thought it was DOA. Plugged in with nothing connected and nothing happened. No lights, nothing. And the PCB had that nice burny smell. Was ready to throw it out but on a whim picked up another power supply and tried it and it worked. Power supply that came with it was dead.

Overall Review: QC clearly a bit dodgy on Rosewill products. Newegg's awesome return policy is the only reason I keep buying them.

If only all PC upgrades were this easy and effective!

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB SATA III 32 layer 3D V-NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E500B/AM
SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB SATA III 32 layer 3D V-NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E500B/AM

Pros: Fast- didn't have to run a bunch of tests to appreciate that this had sped up my 4 year old Samsung laptop to compete with my one year old Macbook Air. Installation with Samsung cloning software couldn't be easier- laptop picked up right where it left off with old drive- even open tabs on Firefox.

Cons: That I didn't do it sooner?

Overall Review: Used Startech USB 3.0 to SATA cable- cloned 400 gb in under 4 hours.

Would be great if mounting holes were threaded correctly

BYTECC BRACKET - 125 HDD / SSD 1 x 2.5" Drive to 3.5" Bay Metal Mounting Kit – OEM
BYTECC BRACKET - 125 HDD / SSD 1 x 2.5" Drive to 3.5" Bay Metal Mounting Kit – OEM

Pros: Holds the SSD at the proper offset to match the location of SATA connectors- critical in an iMac transplant Holds the SSD securely Provides a heat sink for the SSD

Cons: Screw holes for the 3.5" OEM drive mounting hardware are too small (at least for the WD drive I was replacing in an iMac) Is shorter than a 3.5" drive so the back mounting hardware might not line up (didn't in the iMac- had to improvise)

Overall Review: It's cheap and does the job, but have a drill standing by if your original drive is not mounted in a universal enclosure

Incredible value on solid laptop

Acer TravelMate P6 TMP633-M-6639 Intel Core i3 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 13.3" Notebook Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Acer TravelMate P6 TMP633-M-6639 Intel Core i3 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 13.3" Notebook Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Pros: Battery Life- 13 hours is better than most Chromebooks Light weight and compact dimensions Upgradeable to 16 GB RAM Excellent Wifi receiver Windows 7 Pro- assuming Msft doesn't abandon it to make owners 'upgrade' to Win 8 Quiet- streaming Netflix the fan barely spins up and it is a quiet fan. I can't hear the HD at all. Multi-display capability

Cons: No optical drive- but needed rarely these days Intel I3 with integrated graphics is not exactly a screamer Usual PC bloat, but less than HP Doesn't come with a recovery disc- need to burn your own with an external burner- can't use thumb drive for recovery. That's about it

Overall Review: Since there aren't many reviews for this yet thought I'd add my 2 cents. I agree with another reviewer that they must have upgraded several components of this laptop, because the keyboard is not at all mushy (it is slightly loud, but most keyboards are), the mouse pad is responsive and has three finger touch ability and the screen is more than adequate; it's not a high output IPS screen but at this price you can't expect that. What you do get is a responsive, easily transportable machine big and powerful enough to do real work. Plus you can add the Acer Pro Dock and use this with a full size monitor and keyboard/mouse at home and pop it out to take on the road with one button. Feels really solid, and the lid has a brushed look that adds a little eye candy (a little- it is basically a business/school tool after all). Bought an LG external DVD burner for the rare times I need that capability, and will be upgrading the RAM to 8 GB. Otherwise, I am very happy with this machine, and as this is the higher end Acer designed for business use, am hopeful that it will last quite a while.

Still looking for the perfect Bluetooth Headset

LUXA2 Black LHA0049-A BT-X3 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones
LUXA2 Black LHA0049-A BT-X3 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones

Pros: Great sound! Easily paired to a relatively older phone (LG Octane) Light weight- comfortable Small earcup still blocks outside sounds effectively Controls on headset worked with older phone's Bluetooth profile Bluetooth range better than any other set I've tried

Cons: Talk quality is terrible Proprietary charger

Overall Review: If you are going to use this primarily to listen to music with only the occasional phone call, then I'd rate this 4-5 stars. But I wanted to use this at work so I could leave it sitting on my desk and pick it up and put it on for calls (and muffle the loud voice of my coworker in the next cubicle). Also wanted to use it for listening to music, but that was secondary. Listening to Mahler Symphony #1 as I write this, and detail and instrument spacing is excellent, especially for Bluetooth. Bass is solid and not 'Beats' excessive. Treble is a bit suppressed- but still there. Triangle was clearly audible over full orchestra. Range is excellent- at 20' through two walls reception was still solid. I was starting to LOVE these phones. Then made a phone call to my wife. ARRGH! She could understand me- but said no way would these be acceptable for a business call. My speech was quite muffled and fuzzy. I tried taking the phones off and speaking directly into the Mic hole in the bottom of the right earcup- she said that sounded fine. Put them back on my head- awful. Not sure what 'CVC' is supposed to accomplish, but clear speech is not it. So, again, if you want them for listening to music and not making calls, I highly recommend them. But for serious office work- fail. I may keep them anyway- at this price the sound quality is amazing. But they were SO close to being perfect. Thermaltake- if you monitor these reviews, and you believe I got a defective pair, please let me know. I would love to be proven wrong. But the fact that these sound clear when the mic is spoken into directly makes me believe that what I am experiencing is normal.
