Quiet, cool and FAST.

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.10 ST3250620A 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Runs very quiet, cool-to-average running temp, and Seagate's DiscWizard made it all so easy.

Cons: Windows couldn't 'see' it until I ran DiscWizard on it. It's an OEM - so for some of you that don't understand "OEM" you will be surprised that you ONLY receive the drive. NO screws, box, docs or anything. Well, you do get one jumper.

Overall Review: I'm running this as my master drive and an older 110 GB 8mb-cache Seagate drive as a slave. Both work flawlessly together. DiscWizard can be found on Seagate's site.

Garbage! Junk! Doesn't fit?!?!

SYBA PCI USB 2.0 & FireWire/1394a combo card Model SD-COMBO-02
SYBA PCI USB 2.0 & FireWire/1394a combo card Model SD-COMBO-02

Pros: NONE!

Cons: How can a PCI card NOT FIT?!?! How is that possible?? I couldn't get the card to seat all the way down in ANY of my PCI slots. IN one of them the screw on the bottom of the bracket for the card came in contact with my internal speaker connector on my ASUS mobo! The instructions are minimal and have typos! Help/info via their website is also minimal.

Overall Review: Junk Junk Junk. Don't bother with this one. I guess that's what I get for trying to save a couple bucks...

Works great

Pros: Worked right out of the box. Connection ports in back feel solid, more so than other brands I had.

Cons: Ethernet cable provided could have been a foot or so longer for my applications. It's a 6-footer, but could have used a little bit more. (No other brand I know of gives you more than 6-foot.)

Overall Review: Gets hot. Very warm. Not burn your hand hot or anything, just warm. It seems like the sir vents are adequate, but I wouldn't go storign this thing in a drawer or anything.

Works great; FAST

Patriot Razzo 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) PSF8GRUSB
Patriot Razzo 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) PSF8GRUSB

Pros: Faster than my Kingston and SanDisk drives. Copied 1.9Gb very quickly, some upwards of 55Mb in size. Win XP Pro recognized it quickly. Seems to unmount faster than the others, as well.

Cons: The cap (always the cap!) needs to just be thrown away upon receiving it. I really dig those swing caps others make, or the switch-blade style of the SanDisk, but the cheap plastic cap that comes with this has nowhere to go once you remove it. Just throw the cap away.

Overall Review: The color stands out amongst the handful of other USB drives I have. 2 and 5/8 inches long, without the cap (for those of us that have clearance issues.

Works in a Dell D400

G.SKILL 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Laptop Memory Model F1-2700CL3S-1GBSA
G.SKILL 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Laptop Memory Model F1-2700CL3S-1GBSA

Pros: Dropped 2 of these in a Dell D400 and it recognized them at boot. This is my second pair of G.Skills that I have loaded into a Dell D400-series and they both work great. No problems here.

Cons: None. Maybe the price could come down a bit.

Quiet, easy, and works in Dell D400

SAMSUNG Spinpoint M Series HM121HC 120GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG Spinpoint M Series HM121HC 120GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Pretty quiet for a 5400 RPM laptop drive. I've heard louder drives that this one. A compared to my original 4200 RPM drive, the difference is hardly noticeable, especially in the places you are going to use a laptop.

Cons: None.
