HD 4850 rocks!

Pros: Got a mini-tower system that can't fit a monster video board and does not have a 1kw PSU? Get this card! A little slower than the 4870, but much beter performance/power ratio.
Cons: VGA connector on back was too high to use on my cheapie case, but a little rough sheet metal work with some pliers took care of that.
good enough

Pros: Tight fit on thrive tablet. Seems to cover tablet up fairly well. No metal parts to scratch tablet. Very Compact.
Cons: No pocket, no room for charger. Due to tight fit, it's a liitle work to get it in and out of the case, but given that it's built like a coin purse with no zipper or velcro, the tight fit keeps the front closed
Overall Review: not too bad for $10/free ship.
no go on windows 8

Pros: Nicely designed and built. Works with windows 8 & 4TB drives, but on USB 2.0 ports only.
Cons: When reading/writing files to the unit, reconnects always occur, and the transfers never work (100% fail) other usb 3.0 drives (wd passport 1TB) work 100%
Overall Review: Vendor does not claim windows 8 support. Too bad, as this would have been a great box to set up storage spaces on. USB 2.0 just does not have the speed for media files and backups.
ok for the money

Pros: cheap, reasonable performance, sturdy case
Cons: micro usb connector instead of mini seems a little flimsy (also every other gadget I have in mini-usb). A little bit thicker than my old wd passport. Does not use a std 2.5" drive inside.
Overall Review: Last year, my notebook drive blew out, and having the passport drive with a 2.5" sata disk inside saved my bacon. I wish this drive was of the same design. When formated exFAT, works great with my Thrive tablet. exFAT works fine on XP if you get KB955704 from MS.
Great at what it was designed for

Pros: I've got 7 drives in my computer, and I appreciate the low power and more importantly, low start up power of this drive. Even while copying 1TB of data to this thing, it never got more than slightly warm. I don't think that the lower RPM and seek times are that much of a problem for media use, especially if most the files are large and contiguous. The tranfer rate of the heads is still quite high, and in media applications where the worst case is streaming an HD movie, this drive is great.
Cons: Still more expensive than 1TB drives
Overall Review: 2tb is the end of the line for NTFS volumes under 32bit XP. I'm hoping Microsoft comes out with a viable o/s using GPT sometime soon.
Nice Unit for Car Navigation

Pros: I've used several GPS units over the years for Hiking, geocaching and mapping, and this unit is useless for such things, but to find your way about when driving, it's fast, efficeint and reasonably easy to use, has updateable maps, real time traffic, and for $90, I doubt I'll find anything better.
Cons: Can't use GPS when charging from a computer thru USB port. Map updates cost as much as the unit
Overall Review: I'm told this unit is much faster with a faster SD card. Given how cheap a 2gb class 6 card is these days, it would be nice if it came with one.
