It's...memory

Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT102464BA1339
Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT102464BA1339

Pros: Does exactly what it's supposed to do - nothing more or less. It's memory. You put it in your motherboard. It works.

Cons: Doesn't bring you a cup of warm milk and read you a story at bedtime.

Most Critical Review

It's reliable, once you get it connected...

D-Link DUB-H7 USB 2.0 7-Port Hub
D-Link DUB-H7 USB 2.0 7-Port Hub

Pros: This review is for the 7-port, USB 2.0 hub with fast charging ports. Seems to be reliable once you actually get it to connect the attached devices to the host. Will charge iPod/iPad devices on the charging ports when not connected to a host.

Cons: The charging ports seem to work well when the hub isn't connected to your computer, but iPhones and iPads won't charge on them when the hub is connected to a computer (tried with Dell Laptop and Mac Mini, with power cord plugged in), rendering one of the main selling points of this hub useless. When you connect the hub to the computer, about half of the devices won't work the first time. If you disconnect the hub from your computer and plug it back in immediately, then wait about 30 seconds, the half of the hub that wasn't working sometimes starts working again. Sometimes, you have to unplug devices from the hub and plug them back in again to get them to work. Some devices, like an ASIX-based USB-Ethernet adapter, simply won't work with this hub.

Overall Review: Given that USB 2.0 has been around for 10 years, you'd think that a more-or-less respectable company like DLink could make a USB 2.0 hub that, you know, actually worked.

Easy installation and use with Ubuntu Linux 20.04

Rosewill RC-505 - 2-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Card
Rosewill RC-505 - 2-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Card

Pros: - Used existing kernel drivers under Ubuntu Linux 20.04- Simply installed the card, rebooted the machine and it just worked- Substantially faster transfer speeds than the USB 2.0 ports on the server motherboard

Cons: - None worth mentioning.

Overall Review: - Would absolutely recommend this card for use with Linux

Mostly good news

Acer K272HULbmiidp Black 27" WQHD 6ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS DCR 100,000,000:1(1,000:1) Built-in Speakers

Pros: Display resolution, brightness, color, etc. very good No bad pixels or excessive light bleed (accepting that there will be some on inexpensive IPS panels)

Cons: Very light duty stand

Overall Review: Requires tomfoolery to work properly with MacOS X - for some reason, is recognized as a television rather than a monitor, which causes text to look grainy because it uses a crippled YCbCr color space instead of a full RGB color space. This can be fixed by forcing the Mac into RGB mode with an EDID override; search for mac rgb monitor override for instructions.

It works - what else do you want?

Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) ECC Unbuffered DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Server Memory Model CT2KIT102472BD160B
Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) ECC Unbuffered DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) Server Memory Model CT2KIT102472BD160B

Pros: It works, which sadly is not a given when talking about various combinations of motherboards, processors and RAM.

Cons: None, really.

Overall Review: Using this RAM with: SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCL-F-O LGA 1155 Intel C202 Micro ATX Intel Xeon E3 Server Motherboard Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 69W BX80637E31230V2 Server Processor

Just what I needed for MythTV

SiliconDust HDHR4-2US HDHomeRun CONNECT 2-Tuner Streaming Media Player for Cord Cutters
SiliconDust HDHR4-2US HDHomeRun CONNECT 2-Tuner Streaming Media Player for Cord Cutters

Pros: Works perfectly with MythTV 0.27; tunes basically any channel, any time as long as you set the tuning delay to 5000ms. Good tuner sensitivity. Handy built-in splitter means two tuners with only one cable connection. Signal strength meter actually works!

Cons: Incredibly small and light, with no wall mounting keyholes. Double-shielded coaxial cable lifts the thing up!

Overall Review: Only tried it with MythTV, so I can't comment on how it works with eyeTV or WMC. Uses about 50mbs when recording two high-def shows, so plan your network accordingly.
