Seagate Exos 16TB Enterprise HDD X18 SATA 6Gb/s 512e/4Kn 7200 RPM 256MB Cache 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (ST16000NM000J)

Pros: 5 Year warranty

Cons: 'YOUR WARRANTY STARTS FROM THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE' (DOM). i bought 2 Seagate Exos 16TB Enterprise HDD X18. i received them on 4-21-23. the DOM was 9,2022. (i attached pics of DOM on both drives and a screenshot from Seagates warranty site). Both had warranty expiration dates of 9/20/2027. i called Seagate. i had to show proof on when i ordered them, who i ordered them from, and email Seagate the purchase transaction. The warranty checker now shows my warranty ends on April, 19,2028.

Overall Review: Seagate cust srv ph# 1-800-7324283. Seagate Warranty check site is https://www.seagate.com/support/warranty-and-replacements/ The drives were confirmed as New by seagate. The packaging from New Egg, to me was unacceptable. i enclosed a pic showing how the bare drives with no protection between them were sandwiched together then placed in ONE bubble wrap bag. the shipping box was oversized so the drives were free to shuffle back and forth. Over all it was not a bad interaction / experience with Seagate, but im glad i checked the warranty. if i had to point a finger at someone, i would say New Egg is dumping off old inventory on the unsuspecting.

Hubba .. Hubba

Intel Core i7-3930K - Core i7 3rd Gen Sandy Bridge-E 6-Core 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 130W Desktop Processor - BX80619i73930K

Pros: fast.. bragging rights.. with performance like this you wont have to upgrade for a lonnng time.. and bragging rights (mine is bigger than yours). oh wait..

Cons: the only con is price for the entire set up. processor is pricey, socket 2011 mobo is pricey, (good) quad channel memory is pricey.. Not so much a 'con', cause if it were cheap everyone would have it.

Overall Review: i dont encode videos, i dont 'need' 6 cores, i dont need 40 lanes of pci express, or quad channel memory.. But if this thing was a dog.. I would walk it every day!
