Big speed numbers!

SAMSUNG SSD 9100 PRO 4TB, PCIe 5.0x4 M.2 2280, Seq. Read Speeds Up to 14,800MB/s, Best for AI Computing, Gaming, and Heavy Duty Workstations (MZ-VAP4T0B/AM)
SAMSUNG SSD 9100 PRO 4TB, PCIe 5.0x4 M.2 2280, Seq. Read Speeds Up to 14,800MB/s, Best for AI Computing, Gaming, and Heavy Duty Workstations (MZ-VAP4T0B/AM)

Pros: Delivers good real world performance.

Overall Review: Decided to quit penny pinching and put this in an ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 5 RAID card and it does rip. Do I need my editing software to load files this fast? No. Is it great that it does? Sure. I ran out of space and decided to give up on slow platter drives and just get a set of big SSDs. No, I'll never use only SSDs because the sheer amount of media is too much, but, having SSDs for "live files" is a nice luxury.

Most Critical Review

Barely works and is loud

GLOTRENDS M.2 Heatsink with Fan and LED Temperature Display, Keep NVMe SSD Under 40 Degrees Celcius
GLOTRENDS M.2 Heatsink with Fan and LED Temperature Display, Keep NVMe SSD Under 40 Degrees Celcius

Pros: -It might cool the driver by a degree or two Celsius

Cons: -Doesn't really improve idle temps

Overall Review: Running CrystalDiskMark my max temps were 62 degrees Celsius after one run of all the tests. I think that was basically the same as it was without the heatsink but it might have been a degree or two cooler. Anyway, I'm not impressed with it and it is quite loud. Unfortunately the heatsink situation for SSDs is not good.

Good for the money it cost.

Zalman Z3 Iceberg ATX Mid-Tower Gaming PC Case, 2 x 120mm ARGB Double Ring Fans Preinstalled w/ 4-port ARGB Controller Included, Tempered Glass Side Panel, 2 x USB 3.0, White
Zalman Z3 Iceberg ATX Mid-Tower Gaming PC Case, 2 x 120mm ARGB Double Ring Fans Preinstalled w/ 4-port ARGB Controller Included, Tempered Glass Side Panel, 2 x USB 3.0, White

Pros: The case is fine, good value.

Cons: Don't get confused, the case supports 140mm FANS on the top and front but will not fit a 280mm radiator on the top... a 280mm radiator has to be front mounted... the radiator fits in the top but the fans on the radiator will touch the motherboard. Can't buy the included fans anywhere which is a bummer... so I am stuck with just 2 when I wish I had 3 so I could have 3 of the same fan for my build.

Overall Review: A simple and somewhat confined space to build a computer in but it does work so... hooray for that.

Replaced 3900x with 5950x....

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X - Ryzen 9 5000 Series Vermeer (Zen 3) 16-Core 3.4 GHz Socket AM4 105W None Integrated Graphics Desktop CPU Processor - 100-100000059WOF
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X - Ryzen 9 5000 Series Vermeer (Zen 3) 16-Core 3.4 GHz Socket AM4 105W None Integrated Graphics Desktop CPU Processor - 100-100000059WOF

Pros: Not hugely faster than the 3900x but still a bit faster in most tasks. It is a noticeable upgrade in CPU intensive applications like Photoshop/Lightroom. It's mainly a rendering/multi-tasking improvement though.

Cons: There's not a huge benefit here in going overboard with cooling. By the time it reaches all core boost of 4.4-4.5Ghz in my system it is staying cool with only 59C recorded (see attached screenshot). Despite that it has already reached the power limit so it cannot boost higher. Technically I think 4.5Ghz is the all-core limit for this chip while 4.9Ghz is the single core limit. I don't know why but I thought it would boost to 4.9Ghz on all cores if it was cool enough.

Overall Review: Ridiculously fast CPU that has no real point for me to own it if I'm being honest but I guess when I export my photos and make edits I appreciate that its just that little bit faster than before..

UPDATE: Board went to pieces...

ASRock X570 TAICHI AM4 AMD X570 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASRock X570 TAICHI AM4 AMD X570 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Nice looking board with cool LED effects matches my memory LEDs.Well made, nice features, WiFi, 3 NVMe M.2 slots with fan cooled heatsink, tons of SATA ports, reinforced PCIe slots, heatsinks with heatpipe on VRMS, USB C port, USB 3.2 on board. Applied XMP for Trident Z NEO at rated 3600 MhzBoots up fast.

Cons: After only a couple of months the chipset fan began to fail... now make a horrid noise 24/7... shortly after that the USB ports began to fail one by one. Nothing on the back panel will transfer at USB-C speeds, only the internal USB-C case port is working.

Overall Review: At first it worked great, I was pretty happy, but as mentioned failures have me desperate for a replacement... however, ASROCK SUPPORT IS VERY, VERY BAD... They do NOT care about the fact that one's WORK computer is failing day by day, no, even though they issued an RMA they claim it is OUT OF STOCK... and yet from what I can see this board is IN STOCK ALL OVER THE INTERNET... Basically they will cheat you out of your money by issuing an RMA then screaming OUT OF STOCK! OUT OF STOCK! every time you ask when you will finally get your RMA and it has been months of waiting so no I do not think it really out of stock I think they are lying pieces of garbage.... Never again ASROCK... NEVER AGAIN!! THIS MEAN WAR!!!

Seems good, needs a heatsink.

Mushkin Pilot-E 2TB PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe 1.3 M.2 (2280) Internal SSD - Up to 3,500MBs - Opal Data Encryption - MKNSSDPE2TB-D8
Mushkin Pilot-E 2TB PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe 1.3 M.2 (2280) Internal SSD - Up to 3,500MBs - Opal Data Encryption - MKNSSDPE2TB-D8

Pros: Fast. Relatively affordable. TLC NAND

Cons: -Gets hot and throttles pretty quickly.

Overall Review: It is a really fast drive and so far has really done the trick for my Photoshop editing. I regularly edit 200+ megapixel images and a fast scratch disk is a necessity. This one seems to be doing the trick. I do want to get a heatsink for it because it does throttle down pretty quickly when under load. So far though I like it.
